Job Description

BCYF Vine St Community Center (BCYF Vine St CC) is located in the Roxbury neighborhood, a community rich in diversity, culture, and institutions that set it apart from more traditional neighborhoods. Residents live alongside the largest hospital complex in the region. Founded over 21 years ago, Vine St offers a wide range of activities and programs, including an EEC-licensed afterschool and summer camp for 90 to 100 children ages 6-12, a Computer Center with 14 workstations and computer classes for all ages, a city-wide Youth Connection Program for youth ages 13-19, and a Drop-In Program for youth ages 6-17. The center also has a busy Athletic Department that provides numerous athletic leagues, tournaments, and recreational activities. In addition, BCYF Vine St CC supports many local schools by providing space for physical education and sports events. The center is governed by a 15-member Neighborhood Council, which meets monthly to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the center’s programs and services. Over 65% of the members are Roxbury residents, reflecting the diversity of the neighborhood.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Must be able to sit for extended periods while managing front desk responsibilities. - Ability to remain calm and professional in high-traffic or fast-paced situations. - Flexibility to handle occasional after-hours or weekend shifts as needed. - Bilingual skills are a plus, as they help assist diverse visitors and callers.

The Ideal Candidate for this Job

- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to interact professionally with visitors, staff, and callers while maintaining a friendly and welcoming demeanor. - Customer Service Experience: Prior experience in a receptionist, administrative, or customer-facing role is preferred. - Organizational & Multitasking Abilities: Ability to manage multiple tasks, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and handling inquiries, while maintaining accuracy. - Proficiency in Office Software: Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant administrative tools.
