The position is to strengthen the Procurement Service Team in East Asia Cluster

Type of contract: Volontariat International en Entreprise (VIE). Before applying, please make sure you meet the VIE eligibility requirements. To learn more about the VIE program and the eligibility requirements, please, click here

Purpose of the role

The Service Buyer supports the sourcing and execution of overhaul, repair and other service-related procurement activities across East Asia. The role develops competitive supplier options, manages the procurement process from request for quotation through contract execution, and helps establish effective repair sourcing pathways.

Working closely with Services, Engineering, Quality, Material and project teams, the Service Buyer helps deliver Quality, Cost, Delivery and Technical (QCDT) objectives while maintaining clear ownership, timely follow-up and reliable procurement records.

Key responsibilities

Sourcing and supplier selection

  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand service requirements, technical scope, demand, delivery needs and commercial constraints.
  • Identify and develop qualified suppliers for overhaul, repair and related services, including alternative sources where appropriate.
  • Prepare and launch requests for quotation, compare supplier proposals and lead commercial negotiations.
  • Evaluate sourcing options on total cost, capability, lead time, quality, contractual conditions and supply risk, not price alone.
  • Prepare procurement recommendations and Business Award documentation in accordance with applicable approval processes.

Overhaul and alternative-sourcing strategy

  • Support the development and execution of sourcing plans for overhaul work packages and recurring service needs.
  • Assess alternative supplier and make-or-buy options with the relevant technical and project stakeholders.
  • Help build clear business comparisons, including scope, costs, delivery, technical feasibility, quality requirements and commercial risks.
  • Coordinate the resolution of open sourcing and contractual points before award, and support the handover from award to execution.

Repair supplier development and case coordination

  • Identify repairable parts or families with the relevant Material and Maintenance teams and engage potential repair suppliers.
  • Obtain supplier proposals covering repair approach, lead time and commercial terms.
  • Coordinate the information needed for Engineering and Quality review before a supplier repair pathway is used operationally.
  • Maintain visibility of repair cases, supplier quotations, approvals, progress, outstanding actions and handovers between teams.
  • Review the commercial aspects of case-specific repair quotations against the approved sourcing reference and coordinate the handover of agreed information to the responsible operational teams.
  • Follow cases through supplier execution and return, helping ensure that records and savings evidence are complete.

Contract execution and supplier performance

  • Support the preparation and management of supplier agreements, purchase commitments and contract changes.
  • Monitor supplier QCDT performance and work with Supplier Quality and internal stakeholders to address delivery issues, non-conformities and other risks.
  • Maintain constructive supplier relationships, escalate significant issues promptly and support corrective-action plans.
  • Contribute to supplier-panel and commodity strategies by sharing market intelligence, sourcing opportunities and lessons learned.

Procurement governance and improvement

  • Apply company procurement processes, approval requirements and standards of ethical conduct.
  • Maintain accurate sourcing, contract, supplier-performance and repair-case records.
  • Track open actions and process delays, improve handovers between functions and help establish repeatable ways of working.
  • Support the validation and reporting of procurement savings with the relevant Finance and project stakeholders.

Key working relationships

  • Internal: Services and project teams; Global and Regional Procurement; Maintenance Engineering; Material and RMA teams; Supplier Quality; Supply Chain and Warehouse; Finance; and Legal.
  • External: Existing and prospective suppliers, including overhaul and repair providers.

Qualifications and experience

Required

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business or a related discipline.
  • A foundation in sourcing or procurement, with the ability to manage supplier enquiries, commercial comparisons and negotiations.
  • Awareness of contract management and commercial risk.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions in an international, matrix environment.
  • Fluent English.

Desirable

  • A qualification or specialisation in Purchasing or Supply Chain.
  • Experience or exposure to services procurement, industrial repair, component overhaul or supplier development.
  • Familiarity with procurement or ERP systems and structured case tracking.

Measures of success

  • Timely development of qualified and competitive sourcing options.
  • Completion of sourcing and award activities in line with QCDT objectives and procurement requirements.
  • Progress of approved repair supplier pathways and reduction of stalled case handovers.
  • Supplier delivery and quality performance.
  • Accurate procurement records and savings evidence validated through the appropriate business processes.
