Job Description

The Video Editor is responsible for organizing footage, building rough edits from approved scripts, preparing projects for author review, and supporting production quality control for author-submitted videos.

Responsibilities

  • Ingest, organize, and conform video footage received from production teams and authors worldwide.
  • Use approved AI-enabled tools to support efficiency, transcription, captioning and quality control.
  • Log and label footage according to JoVE naming conventions, metadata standards, and project folder structures.
  • Assemble rough cuts of JoVE Journal video articles based on approved scripts and editorial guidelines.
  • Prepare Adobe Premiere Pro project files, template folders, and related assets for the post-production workflow.
  • Generate basic text, graphical, and visual assets using Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Conduct production quality control reviews of author-submitted videos, identifying technical, visual, audio, and content-related issues.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demo reel or portfolio demonstrating relevant editing experience is required.
  • 3+ years of professional video editing experience.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Cloud post-production applications, especially, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Media Encoder.
  • Strong understanding of post-production workflows, including codecs, file formats, proxies, importing, exporting, transcoding, audio cleanup, and media management.
