Job Description
About the Role & Team
IDC is seeking a Vice President, Technology & AI Enablement — Greater China to serve as the senior technology and AI leader for IDC's China operations and APAC-wide technology platform. This executive will own IDC's APAC technology stack, lead the full deployment of IDC's Quanta intelligence platform across China, and build the partnerships and internal capabilities needed to operate at the pace and scale of the China technology market. Quanta is IDC's next-generation AI-powered data and intelligence delivery platform. This role is responsible for its end-to-end implementation in China — including partner selection, integration architecture, localization, and go-live — in close alignment with IDC's global technology and product teams.
What You’ll Do
- Technology & Platform Leadership Own and evolve IDC's APAC-wide technology stack, ensuring reliability, security, scalability, and compliance across all markets. Serve as the primary technology authority for China, bridging IDC global product and engineering teams with local regulatory, infrastructure, and operational requirements. Drive cloud strategy across APAC, overseeing relationships with hyperscale providers (AWS, Azure, Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud) and ensuring optimal deployment models for each market.
- Quanta China Implementation Lead IDC's Quanta platform implementation in Greater China from initiation through full production launch, owning program milestones, budget, and executive reporting. Structure, negotiate, and manage relationships with implementation partners — system integrators, ISVs, and cloud partners — at the scale required by the Quanta China Implementation Plan. Coordinate cross-functional delivery across IDC global engineering, China operations, legal, compliance, and external implementation teams. Identify and resolve technical, regulatory, and integration risks proactively; maintain delivery momentum in a complex multi-partner environment.
- AI Enablement & Strategy Define and execute IDC's AI adoption roadmap for Greater China, identifying where AI can drive analyst productivity, data operations, client delivery, and internal workflow efficiency. Evaluate and integrate Chinese AI models and platforms (Deepseek, Baidu Ernie, Alibaba Qwen, etc.) into IDC workflows where they deliver superior performance or compliance advantages. Act as IDC's AI thought leader in China — engaging clients, partners, and IDC's own research community on the technology transformation underway in the market.
- Partner & Ecosystem Management Build and manage IDC's strategic technology partner ecosystem in China, including implementation partners, resellers, cloud providers, and data partners. Negotiate commercial and technical terms with partners; hold partners to delivery commitments aligned with IDC's standards for quality and timeline. Represent IDC in senior technology and AI forums, industry bodies, and government engagement as relevant to IDC's China technology strategy.
- Team & Organizational Development Build, lead, and develop the IDC China technology team, establishing a culture of execution, continuous learning, and cross-cultural collaboration. Partner with APAC technology and product peers to share capabilities, standards, and learnings across the region. Ensure the China technology function operates within IDC's global governance, security, and compliance framework.
What You Bring
- 12+ years of progressive technology leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior role in Greater China.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-party technology platform implementations — ideally data, analytics, AI, or SaaS platforms — at enterprise or ecosystem scale.
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture and operations, with hands-on experience managing relationships with major hyperscalers (Alibaba Cloud, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud, AWS China, Azure China).
- Strong command of China's technology regulatory and compliance environment: data localization, MLPS, PIPL, Cybersecurity Law, and AI governance requirements.
- Proven ability to manage implementation partners — system integrators, ISVs, and professional services firms — at scale, including SOW negotiation, delivery oversight, and escalation management.
- Experience driving AI adoption inside an organization: evaluating, procuring, integrating, and operationalizing AI tools and platforms across enterprise workflows.
- Fluency in Mandarin (native or professional proficiency) and English; ability to operate effectively in both Chinese and Western corporate cultures.
- Background from one or more of the following: Google, Microsoft, AWS, Alibaba (Alibaba Cloud / DAMO Academy), Tencent, Baidu, Deepseek, Huawei, ByteDance, or a leading global systems integrator with a major China practice (Accenture, Deloitte, IBM, Infosys, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a data intelligence, market research, or information services business, or in a technology role that served these sectors as a client.
- Familiarity with IDC's research domain — technology markets, vendor landscapes, buyer intelligence — and how AI is transforming data delivery in this space.
- Experience working in a Western multinational operating in China, navigating the interface between global headquarters requirements and China-specific execution realities.
- Track record of building and retaining high-performing technology teams in a competitive China talent environment.
- Existing network among senior technology leaders, AI researchers, and cloud ecosystem partners in China.
