Job Location: Network Offices - Los Angeles, CA 90015Vice President – Talent & Strategy
Equitas Academy provides a structured, achievement-based community that prepares students to graduate from four-year colleges and universities. We currently operate two elementary schools and two middle schools, with more schools opening in the near future.
We are seeking to identify a leader who will dramatically increase the strength of our talent pipeline as we continue to grow and serve more students and staff members. The ideal candidate for this role has a deeply developed passion for the people that serve our students and their development, an experienced skillset around creating and executing on systems that lead to strong performance on talent metrics, and a unique ability to think and operate strategically to improve the organization. This future leader will model zest for the people that make Equitas Academy great and plant seeds of curiosity and continuous improvement towards the mission of the organization.
Essential Responsibilities:
Create, lead and execute on a cohesive vision for talent across the network including the acquisition of mission aligned and skilled talent, the development of people in skills and mindsets that promote growth and the retention and engagement of staff over time;
- Oversee and improve the talent acquisition process that results in a high quality teacher and leader in each position by enhancing the recruitment strategy, redefining selection processes and systems and implementing an effective onboarding process for all incoming talent;
- Lead a team of various direct reports all within the talent team/department with the specific outcome of aligning all talent practices, communication and work streams to create cohesion and engagement for the end users – hiring managers and candidates;
- Design talent development programming and plans to provide a growth trajectory for teachers and leaders across the network with the intention of transforming talent and providing a pipeline for future growth and implement programming within one year of the role;
- Design a teacher and leader retention strategy that addresses the most core aspects of talent engagement and sustainability as well as addresses pain points for teacher sustainability over time and identify the scope of the implementation for upcoming school year;
- Implement diversity goals across all departments and comprehensive strategy for ensuring that a diversity and equity lens is applied across all talent aspects including acquisition and development;
- Lead annual priority-setting and execution-planning process;
- Assist departments in developing detailed operating plans based on strategic plan;
- Coordinate with budget team to determine how to reallocate resources based on strategic plan;
- Lead process of developing performance outcomes with targets that align with school and organizational goals;
- Build a performance management system to monitor progress on the plan;
- Refine and manage accountability processes to ensure the organization meets its strategic goals;
- Refine expansion strategy including start-up process/roadmap & replication model;
- Lead strategic initiatives related to growth;
- Build internal organizational capacity and efficiency;
- Strengthen staff culture and employee growth;
- Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to the CEO and other senior leaders on the Executive Team;
- Support efficiency and effectiveness of the CEO;
- Participate with the CEO and Executive leadership team in solving a variety of long-term and day-to-day organizational challenges;
- Provide strategic leadership and management, ensuring that the vision is not lost in the daily operations of the organization.

Represent the organization as an exceptional external ambassador for all stakeholders as the leader of talent in the organization
- Model the core value of curiosity and imbed the value for learning for all roles and positions in the organization
- Demonstrated success in leading high impact projects impacting many stakeholders, in the K-12 or non-profit setting
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a highly effective team as well as lead through influence where positional authority does not exist
- Solves problems strategically while weighing the advantages and disadvantages of each approach with a network-wide lens
- Ability to implement systems effectively and evaluate those systems to reduce error and increase engagement
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively
- Incredibly strong communication skills in all mediums including but not limited to: written communication, adult learning platforms, and in person delivery and enrollment of strategy
- Ability to transition quickly from individual, detail oriented projects to collaborative, people-oriented conversations

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree (especially MBA) preferred
- 7-10 years experience within HR or talent departments
- Experience in a growing non-profit preferred

Equitas Academy Charter School was founded in 2009. We are a network of free public schools for families who believe their children deserve a high-quality education and challenging school experience. Our school model offers credentialed, passionate, and dedicated teachers and staff who are experts in their field. We currently serve over 1,000 students in Kinder-8th grade in two Elementary Schools and one Middle School and will open our second Middle School in August 2017.
