The Vice President, Sales is responsible for achieving sales objectives for the Cheese and Butter categories. In this capacity, the incumbent develops sales strategies, prepares sales forecasts, defines budgets, plans workforce requirements, and leads negotiations at the national level. This position reports to the Category President.

The role is responsible for identifying profitable growth opportunities across assigned customers. The incumbent oversees the development and negotiation of customer programs, builds strong relationships with senior leadership at national accounts, and provides strategic direction and leadership to a team of Account Directors responsible for volume, gross profit, and execution. The role also oversees the category’s commercial strategy team.

In addition, the incumbent ensures alignment with cross-functional experts within a matrix organization, all contributing to the achievement of the sales team’s objectives.

Your role in achieving results:

  • Ensure achievement of gross margin and volume targets by effectively managing current activities and driving category growth
  • Develop long-term commercial strategies aligned with both customer and Agropur long-term objectives; prepare annual budgets and customer business plans, and use appropriate tools to track and measure performance
  • Coordinate execution requirements to ensure customer plans align with overall commercial strategies and objectives
  • Manage all aspects of key accounts, including pricing and promotional programs, new product launches, forecasting, marketing investments, deductions, budgets, trade agreements, account plans, and day-to-day customer needs
  • Contribute to the development of special projects to differentiate and adapt to customer needs
  • Build strong relationships at all levels internally and within customer organizations, and lead executive-level customer meetings
  • Coach, mentor, and develop sales team members to support their professional growth
  • Promote and leverage cross-functional capabilities

What we are looking for to deliver these results:

The successful candidate must be highly flexible and able to operate effectively in both operational and strategic contexts.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or equivalent; MBA or Master’s degree is an asset
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in consumer goods sales and marketing
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing retail accounts
  • Experience managing industrial clients and food service customers
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing sales professionals
  • Experience working with market research data
  • Proven track record in developing and executing annual business plans for retail customers
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Relevant experience and knowledge of the dairy industry (asset)
  • Bilingual in French and English

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 20% travel required
