The Vice President, Head of EMEA Power and Renewables Research will lead Wood Mackenzie's Power and Renewables Research team for the EMEA region. The role combines team leadership, development of the research roadmap, commercial ownership of the Lens EMEA Power and Renewables offering, senior level industry engagement and collaboration with internal stakeholders (product, sales, marketing, consulting) to drive impact and commercial success.

The candidate will define and deliver the research roadmap for the EMEA Power and Renewables offering, lead the team responsible for shaping Wood Mackenzie's EMEA power and renewables market intelligence, and represent Wood Mackenzie across the region's energy industry through frequent engagement with clients, media and industry stakeholders. They will work closely with colleagues across research, product, sales, marketing and consulting to ensure our market views and product offering remain relevant, differentiated, timely, actionable and commercially successful.

As Wood Mackenzie continues to evolve from a leading research provider into a connected intelligence platform, spanning data, analytics, technology and expert insight, this role will strengthen and extend our leadership in EMEA power and renewables markets.

Key responsibilities

• Own the research content strategy for EMEA power and renewables and decide how the offering develops in response to market changes and client demand, while providing predictive and actionable intelligence. Ensure that the EMEA Power and Renewables views feed into Wood Mackenzie’s broader integrated and connected offerings across its portfolio.
• Lead, coach and develop a team of research analysts and senior analysts covering wind, solar, energy storage and power markets across EMEA, building analytical depth, subject matter expertise, and succession plans within the team.
• Hold commercial management responsibility for the EMEA Power and Renewables Lens offering, tracking performance and working with product, sales and marketing to ensure the offering meets its commercial targets.
• Define and deliver the roadmap for EMEA Power and Renewables, working with the product team to prioritise new content, data, and functionality that meet evolving client needs.
• Partner closely with sales, marketing and consulting teams to support renewals, upsell and bespoke client engagements, and to effectively market the team's research and the wider Lens offering.
• Produce and oversee high-quality, forward-looking thought leadership, including written research, commentary, and presentations, that anticipate and respond to major developments across wind, solar, storage and power markets.
• Represent Wood Mackenzie through frequent engagement with the industry — media, conferences and client events — building a distinctive and authoritative public profile that reinforces our position as the most trusted and integrated source of EMEA power and renewables intelligence.
• Build and sustain relationships with senior clients and prospects, including industry C-suite, investment leadership, and government and institutional stakeholders, driving commercial outcomes and deepening Wood Mackenzie's market influence across the region.
• Own headcount planning, hiring and resource allocation for the team, ensuring the right mix of skills and coverage across the region's markets.

Experience

You will bring 10+ years of experience in power and renewables market research, analysis or consulting, potentially gained within a major energy company, utility, developer, or a leading research and analytics firm.

You will have:

• Expertise in EMEA power market fundamentals, complemented by strong working knowledge of wind, solar and energy storage markets.
• Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team of analysts or researchers, including hiring, coaching and performance management.
• Commercial experience managing a subscription, portfolio, research or data product, including ownership of a product roadmap and working cross-functionally with sales, product and marketing to drive commercial performance.
• Strong written skills and a proven track record of delivering market analysis to inform high-stakes strategic, investment, or policy decisions.
• Experience representing an organization's views externally — through media commentary, conference speaking, published research, and client presentations. Recognised as a subject matter expert or thought leader.
• Established relationships with senior figures across the EMEA energy sector, including executives, investors, and government or institutional stakeholders.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to distil complex market dynamics into compelling narratives for senior audiences.
• Familiarity with data-driven and quantitative approaches to market analysis, and an appetite to work at the frontier of how power and renewables market intelligence is developed.
