Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Oversight & Governance
- Lead and oversee the global regulatory reporting function across key jurisdictions (e.g., UK, Europe, APAC).
- Ensure timely, accurate, and complete submission of regulatory reports (e.g., AIFMD, MiFID II/MiFIR, Form PF, CPO-PQR, EMIR, SFDR, etc.).
- Establish and maintain strong governance frameworks, controls, and documentation for all regulatory reporting processes.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Finance, Legal, Compliance, Risk, and Technology to ensure alignment on regulatory requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for regulators, auditors, and internal compliance teams.
- Act as the primary senior interface with global regulators, industry bodies, and external auditors.
- Represent the firm in regulatory forums, consultations, and industry discussions.
- Partner with Investment, Product, and Distribution teams to embed regulatory considerations into product strategy and market expansion initiatives.
- Provide advisory support on new and evolving regulatory requirements impacting the business including new product launches and structural changes
Change & Transformation
- Lead regulatory transformation initiatives, including operating model redesign and RegTech adoption.
- Drive data strategy including lineage, governance, and scalability of regulatory infrastructure.
- Lead regulatory change initiatives, including implementation of new reporting requirements and enhancements to existing frameworks.
- Drive automation and process optimization to improve efficiency, scalability, and data integrity.
- Partner with technology teams to implement regulatory reporting solutions and improve data architecture.
Team Leadership
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing global regulatory reporting team based in India.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and strong control discipline.
- Provide mentorship and career development guidance to team members.
Risk, Controls & Governance
- Ensure strong internal controls and audit readiness across all regulatory reporting activities.
- Proactively identify and mitigate regulatory risks, escalations, and issues.
- Manage regulatory examinations, internal audits, and external reviews effectively.
- Provide reporting and insights to senior governance forums, including risk and audit committees.
Data & Reporting Integrity
- Oversee data sourcing, validation, and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Collaborate with data governance teams to enhance data quality and lineage frameworks.
Key Skills & Capabilities
- Deep expertise in global regulatory frameworks across asset management (AIFMD, MiFID, SFDR, EMIR, UCITS), with the ability to interpret evolving regulations and translate them into scalable operating models.
- Proven leadership of global teams and delivery models, including building and managing high-performing offshore/onshore functions and centres of excellence.
- Strong track record in regulatory change and transformation, including operating model design, process optimization, and RegTech-enabled solutions.
- Comprehensive understanding of asset management products, fund structures, and end-to-end operating models, with strong knowledge of regulatory reporting platforms, data architecture, and control frameworks.
- Strategic and commercially aware mindset, partnering effectively with senior stakeholders to align regulatory requirements with business objectives and growth initiatives.
- Demonstrates independent judgment and accountability, operating with autonomy to make informed, risk-aware decisions in complex and high-stakes environments.
- Applies strong analytical and technical capability to assess complex issues, identify root causes, and deliver pragmatic, sustainable solutions.
- Communicates with clarity and influence, effectively translating complex regulatory and technical concepts for diverse audiences, including senior leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
- Drives continuous improvement and operational excellence, simplifying complexity, strengthening controls, and enhancing efficiency across processes, data, and infrastructure.
Experience:
- 12–18 years of experience in regulatory reporting within asset management, investment banking, or financial services.
Educational Qualification:
- Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance. Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CA, MBA Finance).
- Experience working in a global/matrix organization.
- Exposure to regulatory technology (RegTech) solutions and automation tools.
