The Trading Operations Team is responsible for ensuring the Hong Kong cash and derivatives market operates in a transparent, fair and orderly fashion. Doing so requires a strong team of dedicated and talented professionals with quick thinking, excellent judgement and abilities to handle trading issues quickly while operating within the rules and regulations that keep the market fair and orderly.

With our ongoing major investment to revamp our trading platform and operation processes, we have an exciting opportunity for the right individual to provide first-line independent oversight and challenge operational risks across our Cash and Derivatives Trading Operations teams. This role is central to developing and maintaining a robust risk management framework, ensuring the resilience and integrity of our core trading functions. You will be a key subject matter expert, advising on risk appetite and influencing strategic decisions to protect the organization.

Job Duties:

KeyResponsibilities

  • Process Taxonomy & Control Analysis:Establishand maintain a comprehensive operational process taxonomy for cash and derivatives trading operations. This structured concept will be used tofacilitatedeep-drive analyses of control gaps,identifyroot causes, prioritize remediation efforts, alignment ofcontroland identification of efficiency opportunities across the trade lifecycle.

  • Incident & Issue Management: Oversee the end-to-end management of operational risk incidents for Trading Operations. Ensure thorough root cause analysis, effective remediation plans are implemented, and trends are analyzed to prevent future occurrences.

  • Risk Monitoring & Reporting: Assist the Trading Operations team on the development and monitoring of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to provide an early warning system for emerging risks.Compile operational risk reports for management reporting

  • Stakeholder Engagement & Challenge: Serve as a trusted advisor andcentral pointof contact for operational riskmatters under Trading Operations

  • Promote positive risk culture and risk awarenessin Trading Operations, via facilitation oftraining sessions on operational risk acrossCashand Derivatives Trading Operations, including contentpreparationand training delivery.

  • Drive innovation and transformation withinTrading Operation's workflows by overseeing the development and implementation of automation solutionsutilizinga range of tools and technologies.

  • Risk framework & Governance: Lead the ongoing development, implementation, and enhancement of the operational risk management framework for trading operations. Provide independent review andchallengeof first-line risk activities, including new business activities.

  • Control Environment Oversight: Assess the design and operating effectiveness of controls within Trading Operations. Collaborate with stakeholders to design and implement control enhancements.

Requirements

  • Experience:10+ years of proven experience in operational risk management, internal audit, or acontrols-focused role within financial services, with specific exposure to markets, trading, or exchange operations.

  • Knowledge: Deep understanding of cash and derivatives products, trade lifecycle, and the associated operational processes and technologies.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability toidentify, measure, and analyze complex risks.Proficiencyin using data to inform decisions and visualize risk trends.

  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the proven ability to engage,influence, and constructively challenge stakeholdersofdifferent levels A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
