Position Title: Vice President of Finance- Home Health Care (Intention: Essen House Call)

Reports To Chief Financial Officer

The Vice President of Finance will lead the financial strategy and operations of the organization, ensuring fiscal responsibility, regulatory compliance, and strategic growth in a dynamic home health care environment. This role is responsible for overseeing financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, reimbursement analysis, revenue cycle performance, financial reporting, AI, Investment banking, and business case development, while supporting operational excellence and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and growth objectives.

  • Partner with executive leadership to evaluate new service lines, geographic expansion, and strategic investments.

  • Lead financial planning analysis and business case development to support strategic initiatives and investment decisions.

Financial Management

  • Manage reimbursement analysis, including payer rate trends, regulatory changes, and revenue impacts, to inform strategic and operational decisions.

  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive financial plans, including annual budgets, multi-year forecasts, and capital planning, aligned with strategic goals.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and healthcare-specific accounting standards.

  • Monitor financial performance across service lines and locations, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Manage cash flow and liquidity to support operational needs, growth initiatives, and risk mitigation.

  • Evaluate and optimize payer mix, reimbursement rates, and contract terms to enhance revenue and margin performance.

  • Support strategic initiatives such as new program launches, geographic expansion, and technology investments with financial modeling, ROI analysis, and business case development.

  • Drive automation and efficiency in financial operations through system upgrades, process improvements, and integration of financial technologies.

  • Provide financial leadership in cost accounting, service line profitability analysis, and benchmarking against industry standards.

Operational Support

  • Collaborate closely with clinical and operational leaders to align financial strategies with care delivery models and organizational goals.

  • Provide financial analysis, modeling, and business case support for decisions around staffing, scheduling, patient volume, geographic expansion, and service line development.

  • Develop cost-efficiency initiatives across departments, identifying opportunities to reduce waste and improve resource utilization without compromising quality of care.

  • Monitor and analyze operational metrics such as cost per visit, patient acquisition cost, and clinician productivity to inform strategic planning.

  • Partner with IT and operations to implement financial systems and dashboards that provide real-time visibility into performance and financial health.

  • Ensure financial alignment with compliance and quality improvement initiatives, including CMS regulations, accreditation standards, and value-based care programs.

  • Facilitate cross-functional budgeting and forecasting processes that incorporate input from clinical and operational teams to ensure realistic and actionable financial plans.

Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local financial regulations.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain strong internal controls.

Team Leadership

  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team.

  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA preferred).

  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in healthcare or home health care.

  • Proven experience in financial planning analysis and business case development.

  • Deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement models, especially Medicare and Medicaid.

  • Proven experience with financial systems, data analytics, and ERP platforms.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred Attributes:

  • Experience in scaling operations in a multi-site or multi-state home health care organization.

  • Familiarity with value-based care models and alternative payment arrangements.

  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and drive financial innovation.
