The Role
Reporting to the President/CEO, the VPDC serves as the executive leader of organization’s development and communications strategy and execution in alignment with the 2030 Strategic Plan.
Leadership Profile
The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience in fundraising, donor engagement, and communications leadership, with the ability to support and execute strategies that drive organizational growth and community impact. This individual will have proven experience:
Supporting major gift initiatives, corporate partnerships, and grant funding efforts
Managing communications and public relations campaigns and systems
Strengthening donor relationships and stewardship practices
Build a high-performing, multi-dimensional Goodwill Works Foundation

Bachelor’s degree required
7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in development and public relations
Demonstrated track record of fundraising over $3 million annually
Experience leading teams and managing cross-functional projects
The History of Goodwill Industries
Goodwill Industries has been helping people experience “abundant living” since its founding in 1902 by the Rev. Edgar J. Helms. Today, Goodwill Industries International is a $7 billion federation of 160 autonomous organizations worldwide. In 2007, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia established Helms College, a nonprofit career college built on an immersive, stackable credential model that integrates applied learning and social enterprise across its certificate and degree programs.

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia & the CSRA's Mission is help people discover and develop their God-given gifts through education, work, and career development services. The Macon and Augusta, Georgia based non-profit has placed over 6,820 people in jobs in the last five years.

Dr. Edgar J. Helms, Jr., founded the Goodwill movement in Boston in 1902 based on one simple philosophy: What people really want is "not charity, but a chance"​ to work.

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia was founded in 1975. When James K. Stiff, came to Goodwill of Middle Georgia in 1994, the organization was still very small, employing only 60 individuals. Mr. Stiff saw the need for the services that Goodwill provides in the CSRA and added them in 1996. Since then, Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA has grown to over 700 individuals on payroll and 14 value retail stores.
