Position Summary
The Vice President of Accounting is responsible for directing and overseeing all accounting operations of the organization. This position ensures the integrity of financial reporting, regulatory compliance, strong internal controls, and the successful completion of annual audits. The VP of Accounting works closely with executive leadership to support strategic planning, budgeting, and financial decision-making.
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead, mentor, and manage the accounting department, including hiring, training, performance management, and professional development.
- Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and cash management.
- Establish and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and present accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Analyze financial results and provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Assist executive leadership in preparing annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
- Support strategic financial planning initiatives.
Audit & Compliance
- Coordinate and manage relationships with external accounting firms and auditors.
- Lead the annual financial statement audit process to ensure successful and timely completion.
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards.
Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with other departments to support operational and financial objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and guidance for business initiatives, investments, and capital expenditures.
- Support continuous improvement of financial systems and processes.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred).
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing audits and working with external accounting firms.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with Tax accounting.
