Ardelyx is seeking a Vice President, Human Resources Business Partner to serve as the strategic HR leader and a key advisor to executive leadership during a period of rapid growth, organizational evolution, and increasing market impact. This role will partner closely with senior commercial executives to build a high-drive, performance-driven culture that strengthens leadership capability, accelerates organizational scale, elevates talent, and enables revenue growth across the business.
Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the VP, HRBP will act as a trusted advisor to commercial leadership and a key member of the people leadership team. The ideal candidate brings deep experience supporting high-growth biotech or biopharma commercial organizations and has a proven track record of translating business strategy into talent, organization, and leadership strategies that improve execution, engagement, and business results.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the senior HR business partner to the CCO and commercial organization, leading a team of commercially aligned HRBPs, aligning people strategy with business priorities, market expansion, launch readiness, and revenue goals.
- Advise senior leaders on organizational design, operating models, leadership effectiveness, team structure, capability gaps, succession planning, and change leadership to ensure the organization is built for growth and execution
- Partner with commercial executives to design and scale an organization capable of delivering strong performance in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, including sales, marketing, market access, patient services, and field operations as applicable.
- Lead strategic workforce planning by identifying current and future talent needs, critical capabilities, and organizational implications of corporate strategy
- Drive a high-performance culture through rigorous talent assessment, performance management, succession planning, leadership development, performance calibration, accountability, and differentiated development of top talent
- Partner with senior leaders and people managers to raise the leadership bar, improve manager effectiveness, and create consistently strong team environments that accelerate performance and retention
- Leverage people analytics, market insights, and workforce data to identify trends, challenge assumptions, and influence decisions that improve organizational effectiveness and business outcomes
- Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to develop hiring strategies for critical roles, with a focus on quality of hire, organizational capability and diverse talent pipelines
- Collaborate with Compensation, Benefits, Talent Management, Employee Relations, HRIS, and other HR centers of excellence to deliver integrated solutions that support growth, engagement, and execution
- Lead talent review, succession planning, leadership development, and retention strategies for key talent and leadership populations
- Lead business transformation, organizational scaling, reorganizations, and change initiatives with a pragmatic approach and strong executive presence
- Monitor organizational health, employee engagement, leadership effectiveness, and workforce trends, translating insights into actionable strategies that strengthen organizational performance and employee experience
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree, advanced degree preferred, in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
- 15+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant HRBP leadership supporting commercial or customer-facing organizations within biotech, biopharma, or life sciences.
- Demonstrated success partnering with senior executives to improve organizational performance, leadership capability, and talent outcomes
- Prior experience supporting high-growth commercial organizations, including expansion, launch, business transformation, or significant scaling.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change, ambiguity, and organizational complexity while maintaining strong business and employee outcomes
- Strong business acumen, including a deep understanding of how talent quality, leadership capability, and organizational effectiveness impact revenue performance
- Expertise in organizational design, strategic workforce planning, talent management, succession planning, and change leadership
- Strong executive coaching capability with experience improving leadership effectiveness and manager performance at scale
- Ability to use data, analytics, and clear storytelling to influence decisions and drive action
- Deep knowledge of employee relations, employment law, and core HR practices, with the judgment to navigate complex people issues effectively
- Exceptional collaboration skills and the ability to integrate across HR centers of excellence to deliver cohesive business solutions
- High integrity, resilience, and a leadership style that balances accountability with empathy and organizational excellence
- Ability to travel up to 25%
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $288,000-$352,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
