The Vice President, Global Workplace & Facilities is responsible for the strategic leadership, operational excellence, and long-term development of Lumentum's global facilities portfolio, including photonics fabrication facilities, advanced manufacturing sites, R&D laboratories, corporate workplaces, and critical infrastructure worldwide.

This executive leader ensures the safe, reliable, cost-effective, and scalable operation of facilities that enable business growth, technology innovation, and manufacturing excellence across all regions. The role is accountable for global facilities strategy, workplace experience, capital planning, facilities engineering, environmental health and safety (EHS), sustainability, and business continuity.

Reporting to the Chief Transformation Officer, the Vice President partners closely with Operations, Manufacturing, R&D, Supply Chain, IT, HR, Finance, and Corporate Leadership to align infrastructure investments and workplace strategies with Lumentum's long-term business objectives and transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the global workplace and facilities strategy in support of business growth, operational excellence, and technology roadmaps.
  • Lead all global facilities operations, engineering, maintenance, and workplace services across manufacturing, R&D, and office locations.
  • Ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of critical infrastructure, including cleanrooms, utilities, and mission-critical systems.
  • Establish global standards, governance, KPIs, and best practices to drive operational excellence and consistency across sites.
  • Develop long-range capacity plans and infrastructure roadmaps for manufacturing, laboratory, and workplace environments.
  • Lead global capital planning and execution, including site expansions, facility upgrades, construction, and renovation projects.
  • Oversee project delivery, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved.
  • Establish corporate EHS policies and partner with site leadership to ensure regulatory compliance and a strong safety culture.
  • Drive sustainability, energy management, business continuity, and risk mitigation programs across the global footprint.
  • Manage global facilities operating and capital budgets and optimize total cost of ownership.
  • Lead strategic supplier relationships, outsourced service providers, and facilities-related contracts.
  • Build and develop a high-performing global organization of facilities, engineering, workplace, and project management professionals.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, R&D, IT, HR, Finance, and executive leadership to align facilities investments with business priorities.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.
  • MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in facilities, engineering, manufacturing operations, or related functions, including significant executive-level responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success leading global, multi-site facilities organizations supporting advanced manufacturing and technology environments.
  • Significant experience in:
  • Photonics or semiconductor manufacturing
  • Advanced manufacturing facilities
  • Cleanroom and laboratory environments
  • Large-scale capital projects and infrastructure development
  • Global engineering and operations organizations
  • Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
  • Experience managing large operating budgets and multi-year capital investment programs.
