Job Description
The Vice President, Global Insurance & Risk Strategy is a senior leader responsible for driving Asurion’s global underwriting, insurance and risk management programs. This role requires both breadth and depth of technical expertise and leadership capability, with a particular emphasis on the ability to effectively engage and influence senior stakeholders, especially insurance company business partners. While the VP won’t have responsibility for setting pricing, selecting risks or other functions typically associated with insurance underwriters, they must have a command of these areas and how they affect overall business goal achievement. The VP serves as a key liaison between Asurion and its insurance business partners, and when issues arise, they must be able to drive a cross-functional, collaborative problem-solving process. This individual must be equally effective, operating at the executive level and working across all layers of the organization to ensure strategies are translated into effective execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Executive Engagement
- Develop and implement/execute the company’s global insurance, underwriting, and risk management strategy.
- Serve as a primary relationship lead with insurer, reinsurer, and broker(s) partners and other service providers
- Communicate complex insurance and risk topics clearly and effectively to a range of audiences, including executive leadership
- Provide strategic recommendations on risk transfer, underwriting structures, and program optimization
Insurance, Underwriting & Risk Management
- Lead the design, placement, and management of global insurance and reinsurance programs, balancing retained and transferred risk
- Develop/implement risk financing strategy, including program structure, pricing considerations, captive usage and financial performance optimization
- Maintain a strong understanding of Asurion’s global risk profile and evolving insurance market conditions to inform decision-making
- Oversee contract governance, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and program intent (rates, fees, taxes, collateral, etc.)
- Lead claims management strategy for major corporate insurance programs and ensure efficient, effective claims processes
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Legal, Finance, Product, Client Services, Pricing, and Program Management teams to align insurance and underwriting strategies with business and client needs
- Influence decision-making across both senior leadership and operational teams
- Ensure risk and insurance considerations are embedded in product development, transactions, and strategic initiatives
Operational & Financial Management
- Support management of the insurance budget and program cost structures, including allocation methodologies
- Drive operational efficiency and scalability across insurance and underwriting processes
- Lead Support captive operations and global program structures, ensuring compliance and economic effectiveness
People Leadership
- Lead and develop a high-performing team across risk management and underwriting disciplines
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Build organizational capability and ensure continuity of critical processes
Required Qualifications
- Extensive years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, underwriting, and/or risk management
- Strong technical expertise in commercial insurance markets, underwriting, and risk transfer concepts
- Demonstrated experience managing internal/external stakeholders and partner relationships
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a cross-functional, fast moving global environment
- Strong financial and analytical acumen, including understanding of pricing and program economics

Preferred Qualifications
- CPCU, ARM, ARe or similar designations
- Experience with captive insurance structures or alternative risk financing
- International insurance and regulatory experience
- Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or related field
