We are seeking a Vice President, Finance to lead the organization’s financial strategy, oversee financial planning and reporting, ensure strong governance and regulatory compliance, and provide insightful analysis that supports executive decision-making and the achievement of corporate objectives.
The Vice President, Finance is a strategic and transformative finance leader responsible for strengthening and modernizing the finance function to enhance the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial and management reporting across the organization.
Reporting directly to the President, with functional accountability to the Group CFO, the VP Finance serves as the lead finance executive for the Company and a key advisor to senior leadership. The role is responsible for driving financial discipline, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, capital stewardship, and business performance across the organization.
The VP Finance provides financial insight and strategic support for business initiatives, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, Group Finance policies, and regulatory requirements while translating financial data into meaningful business intelligence and actionable recommendations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Financial Strategy & Leadership:
a. Provide strategic financial leadership and advisory support to the President, Senior Management Team, Board Committees, and Parent Company.
b. Lead the organization’s financial planning processes, including budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and capital management.
c. Translate operational metrics into meaningful financial performance indicators and executive dashboards.
2. Financial Operations & Reporting
a. Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, annual, statutory, and management financial reports.
b. Oversee the effectiveness of accounting and finance operations, including organizational structure, policies, procedures, and internal controls.
c. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency.
d. Ensure audits are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with applicable standards.
e. Active participant at Audit Committee and Board for the respective companies.
3. Treasury & Capital Management
a. Oversee the company’s cash flow position, including monitoring sources and uses of funds and maintaining the integrity of financial assets and securities.
b. Manage banking relationships, loan agreements, and financing arrangements in collaboration with the President and Group CFO.
c. Oversee the investment of company funds in collaboration with the Investment Manager and Investment Committee.
4. Regulatory Compliance & Governance
a. Ensure compliance with all applicable financial, tax, insurance, and regulatory requirements across the jurisdictions in which the company operates.
b. Oversee compliance with IFRS, statutory reporting obligations, insurance regulatory filings, statutory deposit requirements, and tax regulations, including Corporate Tax, VAT, Withholding Tax, Premium Taxes, and related levies.
c. Monitor and report CAPAD ratios and other regulatory capital requirements in accordance with established guidelines.
d. Ensure timely submission of all required regulatory and external reporting, including AM Best reporting requirements.
e. Review and recommend enhancements to financial policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and reporting programs.
5. Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and timely submission of monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc financial and management reports to Group Finance, the Board, regulators, and other key stakeholders in accordance with established standards and deadlines.
6. Overall responsibility for developing and implementing efficient operating systems, policies and procedures and controls to ensure effective co-ordination and proper functioning of the Finance Department activities.
7. Manage/ oversee all Finance functions including working closely with other departments and entities and directing activities as needed to achieve Business unit objectives.
8. Monitor Accounts Receivable performance through key metrics such as Turnover Ratio, CEI, DSO, and ADD, while identifying trends and recommending corrective actions.
9. Direct and coordinate the annual budget and periodic forecasts ensuring that the required strategies are developed to enable the achievement of the Business Unit goals and objectives.
10. Facilitate/ lead efforts with other relevant departments for example, Actuarial on Capital planning, operational projects, and improvements.
11. Active participant in the Company’s strategic planning and decision-making process as a member of the Executive body.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- ACCA qualification or recognized accounting qualification from a tertiary institution.
- MBA or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications in finance, accounting, or auditing.
- Minimum 10 years in financial management, with at least 5 years at senior management level in financial services or insurance.
- Exposure to auditing, budgeting, taxation, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
As a regulated entity with obligations under the Know Your Employee guidelines, a Certificate of Character is required.
