Job Description

The VP, Finance is responsible for the integrity, scalability, and day-to-day effectiveness of the finance function across the O2E Brands Group and affiliated entities. This role ensures strong financial reporting, tax, compliance, and controls, while acting as the primary finance partner to the business as operations, Bets, and operating models evolve. The VP, Finance plays a key role in translating business change into finance processes and systems, strengthening automation and commercial billing capabilities.

Core Responsibilities

Financial Reporting, Tax & Compliance
  • Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) for all entities within the O2E Brands Group and affiliated entities, including establishing and maintaining a consolidated reporting process that provides regular, standardized visibility and insightful analysis across brands
  • Design financial reporting and planning processes that are fit-for-purpose by brand, reflecting differences in size, complexity, and risk, while maintaining only the minimum alignment required for governance and oversight.
  • Oversee credit management and financial risk related to commercial customers, including credit policy, exposure monitoring, and escalation of material issues.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies across jurisdictions, supported by strong financial controls and reliable core finance processes.
  • Lead corporate tax planning and compliance across Canada, the US, and Australia.
  • Support financing, treasury including short to medium-term cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning and monthly intercompany settlements, and capital structure activities.
Business Operations, Change Support & Commercial Enablement
  • Act as the primary finance point of contact for business operations as priorities, operating models, and Bets evolve.
  • Partner with functional leaders to ensure the financial implications of operational changes (e.g., new offerings, process changes, partnerships, or scale shifts) are identified early and appropriately reflected in reporting, controls, systems, and resourcing.
  • Oversee procurement and contract management activities by ensuring financial considerations, risks, and downstream impacts are understood and embedded as the business changes; manage insurance policies and coverage to protect enterprise assets and mitigate risk exposure.
  • Ensure changes in the business are consistently reflected in finance processes, systems, and controls as the organization scales.
Finance Systems & Process Improvement
  • Lead the evolution of the finance function through the practical application of automation, AI, and scalable systems solutions to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of financial close and reporting processes, ultimately enabling stronger business insight and decision-making.
  • Identify and prioritize opportunities to reduce manual work, streamline workflows, and improve data quality across finance operations—including commercial billing, invoicing, and collections
  • Foster the adoption of modern finance technologies, including workflow automation, system integrations, AI-assisted processes, and self-service reporting tools.
  • Ensure automation and AI initiatives are implemented with appropriate financial controls, auditability, data integrity, security, and risk management considerations.
  • Partner with FP&A, IT, and other stakeholders to ensure finance tools and data support the needs of the business as it grows.
  • Balance innovation with practicality by prioritizing automation initiatives that deliver measurable operational and business value.
  • Collaborate with Dream Big to align on finance systems, automation approaches, and process improvements where beneficial, sharing best practices while respecting differences in scale, structure, and risk.
  • Strengthen internal controls and audit readiness as systems and processes evolve.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and develop the finance team, setting clear expectations and supporting professional growth.
  • Delegate effectively while maintaining clear accountability for outcomes and decision ownership.
  • Champion continuous improvements and disciplined ways of working across the finance function.
  • Support the CFO with ad-hoc initiatives and priorities.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, proven track record in mentorship and talent development.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, and business intelligence tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex financial information to diverse audiences, including executive leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in finance roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position (e.g., VP Finance, Director of Finance, or Controller).
  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required
  • Proven experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and risk management within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated success in optimizing financial performance, driving profitability, and effectively managing capital.
  • Experience navigating complex regulatory environments and ensuring robust internal controls and compliance.
