OTC Clearing Hong Kong Limited (OTC Clear) is a central counterparty (CCP) established by HKEX for the purpose of providing clearing and settlement services for OTC derivative transactions
The Vice President of the OTC Platform Development team holds a key position in shaping and implementing the strategic direction of OTC Clear. This position requires a forward-thinking expertise with comprehensive industry knowledge across OTC derivatives, repo, securities lending, and collateral management businesses. The successful applicant shall have substantial experience in both offshore and cross-border OTC derivatives and repo markets and possess a robust understanding of the full trade lifecycle from trading to post-trade operational processes. As part of the OTC Platform Development team, this individual will be responsible for designing and developing clearing services for new products and asset classes within OTC Clear to meet the evolving market demands of both onshore and international investors.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research on market landscape, regulatory requirements and emerging trends to identify growth opportunities for product development.
  • Formulate business proposal on new products and clearing services by performing evaluation on revenue potential, competitiveness, strategic positioning and the capital investment for implementation.
  • Work with internal Product and Client Development teams in gathering market insights and translate them into details business requirement/proposal that meet the market needs.
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Risk Management, Operations, Legal and Regulatory Compliance, Information Technology and Product and Client Development teams to manage implementation of new clearing services, including the drafting of CCP rules and procedures, business requirement definition, system development, system testing, market communication and obtaining the required internal and regulatory approvals before service rollout.
  • Facilitate the engagement with regulators on communicating the new business proposals and obtain the required support and approval.
  • Participate in various working groups to ensure the markets understand the operating design of the new clearing services and circulate feedback for further product refinements.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • University degree holder preferably in Finance, or other related subjects.
  • At least 10 years of professional experience with a focus on OTC derivatives, repo, securities lending and collateral management businesses. Experiences in OTC derivatives and repo clearing or with product development / project implementation in Financial Market Infrastructures (FMI) is a plus.
  • Possess deep understanding of the trade life cycle and the regulatory environment that affecting the OTC derivatives and repo markets.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and logical thinking skills with sound judgment.
  • Demonstrable project planning and implementation skills proven in multicultural environments.
  • A self-starter, team player and with good communication and presentation skills.
  • Be stress-resistant and able to work on tight deadlines.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English, both written and verbal.
  • Experience working with JIRA, confluence, Powerpoint, Word and Excel. VBA and SQL a plus.
