Oversee the Federation Relations & Coalition Partnerships department dedicated to the relationship with our Federation of state, metro and local chambers of commerce and trade association members nationwide. Responsibilities include managing state and local advocacy and policy efforts, coalitions and professional programs, and marketing and membership operations.
The ideal candidate brings strong advocacy and coalition building experience, executive communication and influence skills and the ability to drive impact through both innovative strategy and operational execution.
Responsibilities:
• Manage an annual department budget of $7 million, 12 FTEs, and lead an expansion of the department to approximately 20 FTEs.
• Lead the U.S. Chamber’s advocacy efforts with strategic partners nationwide to influence legislation at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Design and implement the advocacy strategy, coalition building and engagement with more than 1,500 chambers and 500 trade associations nationally to help promote the U.S. Chamber’s policy and legislative priorities.
• Maintain a strong financial position, through membership (recruitment, retention and engagement practices); continue strong professional development programs; and create new business partnership opportunities with other leading organizations in the field to develop enhanced programs and services for Federation members.
• Oversee management of four signature events, two each year for the Association Committee of 100, and Chamber of Commerce Committee of 100 programs.
• Oversee the execution of Institute for Organization Management and Accreditation programs.
• Ensure that department goals are aligned with the strategic mission and shared purpose of the U.S. Chamber.
• Serve as a representative for the U.S. Chamber on the Board of Directors for select partner organizations.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of related work experience, including 7 years of management experience, or equivalent relevant work experience. Preferable experience in advocacy or grassroots strategies.
• Requires excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong stakeholder leadership and influence on complex issues. High emotional intelligence, judgment and professionalism.
• Experience building coalitions and advocacy campaigns.
• Experience with membership development and managing membership relationships.
• Experience managing a team, driving change and impacting organizational goals.
• Experience developing and managing a multi-million-dollar budget.
• Problem-solver and decision-maker.
• Ability to travel as needed.
The salary range for this position is $238,231.00 to $300,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
