General Summary

Has oversight and responsibility for system-wide clinical shared services including, but not limited to, Nursing Operations (including Workforce Management, WellStaff, Pastoral Services, Care Management, and Nursing Administrative Support), and Food and Nutritional Services. Works with operational leaders to improve overall system services and related systems-level outcomes consistent with WellSpan's goals and objectives.

The Vice President Clinical Support Services has oversight and responsibility for system-wide clinical shared services including, but not limited to, Nursing Operations (including Workforce Management, WellStaff, Pastoral Services, Care Management, and Nursing Administrative Support), and Food and Nutritional Services. Works with operational leaders to improve overall system services and related systems-level outcomes consistent with WellSpan's goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates alignment and achievement of system nursing, support and ancillary services consistent with the organization’s goals and objectives while directing the day-to-day execution of the strategies and tactics necessary to successfully improve the outcomes and results of the organization.
  • Drives integration and “systemness” related to system clinical operations.
  • Oversight and strategy for Clinical Operations including: workforce management, clinical innovation, and operational effectiveness.
  • Oversees operational performance data gathering and dissemination.
  • Oversees and develops agenda for Operations Leadership Group (OLG).
  • Special projects as assigned.
  • Establishes performance goals, allocates resources and assesses policies for direct and indirect reports. Provides orientation, training, and continuing education of employees in area(s) of responsibility.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
  • Creates a culture resulting in a highly engaged workforce.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelors Degree in a clinical discipline required.
  • Masters Degree In business management, health care management or finance strongly preferred
  • At least 5 years clinical experience in healthcare operations with a record of progressive management responsibilities in a large and complex health system.
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Knowledge of system process analysis, quality/process improvement techniques, design, and integration, at a level of complexity associated with integrating processes across multiple departments of an organization
  • Possess a level of analytical ability to problem-solve, evaluate, plan, and direct process improvement projects and benchmarking activities for all clinical and non-clinical departments
  • Ability to compile, code and categorize, or verify information/data
  • Ability to determine appropriate course of action in complex situations
