About the Role:
Tubi is seeking a Vice President, Associate General Counsel, attorney to lead our Content Legal team. This role provides legal advice, risk assessment and partnership management to the Content Acquisitions and the Original Content business teams, and leads a team of seven additional attorneys.
You'll work cross-functionally with other Tubi business teams, including Marketing, Sales, Product and Finance, as well as with Fox business and legal teams (e.g., Music and Tax). You'll also partner closely with fellow Tubi Legal subject matter experts on content-related issues including data privacy, digital rights management, IP and sponsorships.
The Tubi Legal team is organized into seven vertical subject areas. We're fast-paced, nimble, and work collaboratively on challenging issues while striving to be excellent partners to our fellow Tubies.
This position reports to our Executive Vice President and General Counsel, and may be located in our San Francisco, Los Angeles or New York offices, or remotely from any US-based location.
What You'll Do:
- Serve as a functional role model for leadership for the Content Legal team, Tubi Legal and across Tubi.
- Develop a keen understanding of Tubi’s business, with a deep understanding of the evolving streaming and ad technology landscapes. Collaborate with business stakeholders, legal colleagues and the Tubi GC to develop Tubi’s positions on legal issues and risk tolerance. Serve as a resource for business stakeholders across Tubi’s teams by providing thoughtful analysis and effective communication of complex legal issues, regulations and laws, to provide business-forward advice in furtherance of company goals and OKRs.
- Actively participate in developing and implementing process-related tasks to help the Content Legal team develop efficiencies and suggest areas for development across all Tubi Legal verticals. Work with other Tubi Legal managers to develop training for the entire Legal team.
- Work to establish best practices and identify practical solutions for your team to bring content negotiations and original content production to a close as frictionlessly as possible. Review and update templates, and structure, draft, review and negotiate a variety of content-related agreements, such as content licensing, content distribution, production services, co-productions for original scripted and unscripted content, development and talent agreements, among others.
- Keep internal stakeholders and third-party representatives adequately and timely apprised of the status of negotiations. Exercise thoughtful judgement to escalate issues to the GC as appropriate.
Your Background:
- 15+ years’ legal experience between an established law firm and an entertainment, media, advertising and/or technology company
- 5+ years’ experience managing, coaching and developing a team of high-performing attorneys
- Experience negotiating and drafting content acquisition and content distribution agreements
- Experience structuring, drafting, and negotiating agreements involving the development and production of original, licensed and co-produced scripted and unscripted content including movies and series
- Experience functioning in a a combined business and legal affairs role, and equally proficient and comfortable negotiating business points and drafting agreements
- Understanding of digital rights management issues
- Familiarity with union (SAG-AFTRA, WGA, DGA, IATSE) and non-union issues, labor and employment law issues, music clearances, intellectual property law, risk management, and rights of publicity and privacy
- Excellent negotiating and drafting skills and demonstrated ability to balance necessary legal protections with practical business needs, managing multiple, complex legal transactions simultaneously
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic and creative environment
- Strong executive presence and an energetic team leader who coaches and supports a team effectively
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written, and the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal colleagues and stakeholders
- Detail-oriented and able to manage a high-volume workload efficiently and smoothly
- JD received from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school
- Admission to the state bar in at least one U.S. state

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is listed annually below. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, long-term incentive plan, and various benefits including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
