HKEX is seeking a seasoned and forward-thinking social media leader to join its award-winning Communications team. This role will be instrumental in shaping, driving and elevating HKEX’s social media strategy across the Group. We are looking for a strategic and agile social media leader with strong digital communications expertise, excellent stakeholder management capabilities, and experience developing high impact programmes within complex organisations. This person will be highly organised and a self-starter—able to manage a busy flow of social media content—while bringing a strong data driven approach, using analytics and insights to shape strategy, refine execution, optimise content, and continuously improve performance.
Reporting to the Head of Media Relations as part of the Group Communications function, the successful candidate will be a team player with a pivotal role in strengthening HKEX’s reputation, enhancing transparency, and effectively communicating the Group’s strategic priorities to global audiences. Partnering closely with HKEX’s senior executives, business units, and corporate teams, this leader will ensure HKEX’s social media presence is cohesive, consistent and aligned with corporate and business priorities.

Job Duties:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of HKEX’s group‑wide social media strategy, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, market positioning and business priorities, whilst strengthening brand awareness and HKEX’s role as a global market leader.

  • Provide strategic counsel to executives, business leaders and internal teams on all things social media.

  • Oversee the planning, creation and distribution of high‑quality content across HKEX’s corporate channels, including LinkedIn, WeChat, X, Weibo, YouTube and other emerging platforms.

  • Drive the development of compelling narratives and digital campaigns that support HKEX’s corporate messaging, business initiatives and market developments, through rich storytelling and data-driven insights.

  • Lead and coordinate social media initiatives across the Group, working closely with business units, corporate functions, and regional teams to deliver integrated and consistent messaging and issues management.

  • Oversee real‑time monitoring of market sentiment, online discussions and digital conversations relating to HKEX.

  • Direct the analysis of social media performance using advanced analytical tools, extracting insights to optimise content, campaigns and long‑term strategy.

  • Guide junior team members, fostering a culture of creativity, excellence, agility and professional growth.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media or related disciplines.

  • Excellent command of written English and Chinese, with strong editorial judgment and storytelling skills.

  • 6-8 years’ experience in social media, digital communications or related fields, preferably within regulated industries, or listed organisations.

  • Demonstrated success in building and executing high‑impact social media strategies at scale.

  • Deep understanding of global and Chinese Mainland social platforms, analytics tools, and emerging digital trends.

  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities, able to influence senior leaders and work effectively in a large organisation.

  • Strategic, innovative, collaborative and proven team player with proven ability to manage issues, drive change and deliver measurable results.
