The Clearing Operations team manages and supports the end-to-end clearing lifecycle across all asset classes (including equities, derivatives and FIC product, transacted both on-exchange and OTC). The team ensures the smooth and timely processing of all clearing activities from trade acceptance up till settlement or expiry. This includes managing operational risks, maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and market integrity, and handling exceptions or contingency events with professionalism and sound judgement aligned with the risk appetite of HKEX.

Job Duties:

  • Lead and oversee the clearing operations across multiple asset classes, including on-exchange and OTC products.
  • Drive operational enhancements, including process redesign, automation, and service‑level improvements to strengthen efficiency and scalability
  • Support and deliver key initiatives, including new product launches, system enhancements, regulatory‑driven changes, and market infrastructure upgrades
  • Review and strengthen operational controls, governance framework, and risk management process to ensure robust oversight and compliance
  • Develop and enhance policies, rules / procedures and system workflows to enable new clearing services / business initiatives
  • Lead incident management, including assessment, root‑cause analysis, and implementation remediation measures to ensure operational resilience
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development opportunities to team members, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement

Requirements:

  • University degree, preferably in Finance, Business Administration, Accountancy, Economics or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in the financial industry, preferably within the clearing operations for on-exchange equities, derivatives and /or OTC markets, with at least 4 years in managerial role. Experience in fixed income, currency and OTC is an advantage. Candidates with less relevant experience may be considered for the Assistant Vice President level
  • Strong stakeholder management and people leadership skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across internal and external parties
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, risk management capabilities, with the ability to oversee time‑critical operational processes
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Chinese; proficiency in Putonghua is an advantage
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience leading teams and driving operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to perform shift duties, including evening shift and public holiday support on regular or as-needed basis
