
Tufts Medical Center is seeking a dynamic and accomplished physician leader to serve as Vice Chair of Radiation Oncology This individual will partner closely with the Department Chair to provide strategic, clinical, academic, and operational leadership across all areas of the department. The Vice Chair will play a critical role in advancing excellence in patient care, education, innovation, and research.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Chair to develop and execute the department’s strategic vision and support core missions of the Department
Oversee clinical operations, ensuring high-quality, safe patient care and efficient workflows
Drive growth initiatives, including program development and service line expansion
Support faculty recruitment, retention, mentorship, and performance management
Promote, facilitate and expand clinical research and academic productivity
Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and quality standards
Foster a culture of collaboration, equity, and continuous improvement
Partner with Chair and administrative team on financial and budget planning for the Department
Drive updates to radiation oncology model to enhance efficiency and consistency across radiation oncology department, including four sites of care in both AMC and community setting
Develop system radiation oncology model to leverage personnel and expertise across multiple sites
Conduct quality assurance activities and develop and implement quality improvement programs, ensuring they align with departmental and institutional goals
Represent the department within institutional leadership and external partnerships
Facilitate business development through outreach and growth activities
Qualifications
MD or DO degree with board certification in Radiation Oncology
Eligible for medical licensure in Massachusetts
Academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor (or eligible)
Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., medical director, program director)
Strong track record in clinical excellence, education, and/or research
Experience managing teams and complex healthcare operations
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in multi-site or network-based oncology programs
Proven success in clinical program growth or innovation
Advanced training in leadership, administration, or business preferred

The salary range for this position is $517,000.00 – $585,000.00 annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process and is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
