Contour was built by students, for students: giving students the exact thing they need to achieve their full potential. As we expand in Victoria, we are hiring founding Year 7-10 English Tutors to deliver that promise in the classroom.

As a Contour tutor, you play four roles at once: teacher, mentor, coach, and friend. You teach highly engaging classes full of discussion, exploration, fun diagrams, and videos, to students who actually want to be there. You build real connections with your students, share your insight, and become someone they look up to and are inspired by.

You teach through the most intuitive in-class material, all built for you. This role does not require any booklet creation or admin tasks; your role is the best class experience possible, for your students and for you. Contour’s resources and classroom experience are so good that you can give your students the best possible learning experience: the kind they look back on and feel proud of, and the kind that makes you the tutor they remember.

What You Will Do

• Teach: Run a 2-hour small-group class each week in a U-shaped room built for discussion, plus a weekly workshop, teaching Year 7-10 English through Contour’s intuitive in-class materials.
• Engage: Lead classes full of discussion, exploration, diagrams, and videos, keeping every student involved rather than lectured at.
• Mentor: Be the teacher, mentor, coach, and friend your students need: someone they can ask anything, look up to, and be inspired by.
• Support: Work the room, catch misconceptions early, and give students the individual help they need to walk out confident.
• Prepare Them to Perform: Get your students ready for the topic tests and school assessments that build their foundations, sharing the strategies that worked for you

What You Will Bring

• 95+ ATAR, a 40+ subject score in VCE English, and a deep command of Year 7-10 English.
• A love of teaching and the patience to explain a concept three different ways until it clicks.

• The pay: Classes run two hours. Tutors start at $90/class and reach $140+/class, plus super and bonuses. Most Tutors earn $130 to $220+/class including bonuses. Assistant Tutors start at $55/class and rise to $70/class, plus super.
• You don't build the material: Every class runs on a workbook our subject team writes, with homework, practice SACs and exams already built into our learning portal. We provide you with what to teach, and all you have to do is prep how to teach it.
• Real (paid) training: Qualification through Contour Tutor Academy, class sit-ins, regular check-ins with your team lead, and honest feedback on your tutoring.
• A schedule you choose: Pick your days, campuses, and times. Evenings and weekends, built around your uni timetable.
