What Our Veterinary Technicians & Assistants Do

  • Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients
  • Safely handle and restrain patients while prioritizing their comfort and well-being
  • Obtain patient histories, vital signs, and relevant medical information
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and sample collection based on experience and skill level
  • Collect and process laboratory samples and assist with in-house diagnostic testing
  • Obtain diagnostic radiographs and maintain imaging standards
  • Support surgical procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
  • Monitor patient vital signs and communicate changes promptly to the veterinarian
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient charts
  • Educate clients with compassion and clarity regarding medications, treatments, preventive care, and discharge instructions
  • Keep treatment and exam areas clean, stocked, organized, and ready for patient care
  • Anticipate the needs of veterinarians and teammates to promote efficiency and exceptional patient care

What You’ll Bring

  • Previous Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant experience
  • Veterinary Technician licensure or credentialing is welcomed but not required
  • Strong animal-handling and patient-care skills
  • Confidence assisting with examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Experience with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, laboratory procedures, and diagnostic imaging appropriate to your skill level
  • Knowledge of anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery
  • Strong communication and client-education skills
  • Compassion and empathy for patients, clients, coworkers, and yourself
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a busy environment
  • Reliability, organization, and good time-management skills
  • A positive, supportive, team-first mindset
  • A willingness to share your knowledge, skills, and experience with others—Spidey powers are also welcome
  • The ability to tolerate frequent puppy kisses and kitty headbutts
  • A commitment to continued learning and professional growth
  • A genuine passion for veterinary medicine and exceptional patient care
