Veterinary Technician, Surgery | $25–$35/hr + Up to $5,000 Bonus | Full-Time Benefits | 3x12-Hour Shifts | Natick, MA

Boston West Veterinary Emergency & Specialty in Natick, MA is hiring an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our Surgery team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Technician looking to expand advanced anesthesia, surgical, and patient care skills while working alongside multiple board-certified surgeons in a collaborative specialty hospital.

Compensation

• $25–$35/hour based on experience, anesthesia background, and skill assessment
• Additional compensation available for anesthesia on-call hours provided through the ER service
• Up to $5,000 bonus based on certification and skill set
  • 50% paid after 6 months of employment
  • 50% paid after 1 year of employment

Schedule

• Full-time
• Three 12-hour shifts per week

Responsibilities
As a Surgery Veterinary Technician at Boston West, you’ll work closely with our board-certified surgeons and clinical team to deliver high-level surgical and perioperative patient care.

Responsibilities include:

• Support patients through all stages of the surgical visit, from admission through recovery
• Assist with patient assessments, diagnostics, and treatments
• Perform and monitor anesthesia and sedation for a variety of procedures
• Prepare and assist during advanced soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries, including scrubbing in
• Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery to ensure comfort and safety
• Provide exceptional client communication and patient advocacy throughout hospitalization
• Assist with advanced diagnostic imaging, including CT and C-arm imaging
• Maintain accurate medical records and uphold high standards of patient care and safety

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Veterinary Technician experience in a clinical setting
• CVT, LVT, or RVT preferred, but not required
• Strong anesthesia monitoring skills required
• Experience with radiographic technique preferred
• Surgical nursing experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative team mindset
• Commitment to patient safety, client service, and high-quality veterinary medicine
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required
