The Opportunity
VCA Cat Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Veterinary Technician Supervisor to lead and support our talented technician team. This position is ideal for a credentialed technician who enjoys mentoring others, fostering team engagement, and ensuring exceptional patient care while remaining actively involved in daily hospital operations.
As a Veterinary Technician Supervisor, you will partner closely with hospital leadership to support team development, maintain high medical standards, drive operational excellence, and create a positive culture where both patients and associates thrive.
What You'll Do:
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Veterinary Technicians and Veterinary Assistants
  • Assist with onboarding, training, coaching, and developing team members
  • Promote a collaborative, positive, and inclusive team culture
  • Support scheduling and staffing needs to ensure efficient hospital operations
  • Provide ongoing feedback and performance coaching to team members
  • Serve as a clinical resource and role model for the nursing team
Clinical Responsibilities
  • Assist with surgical procedures, including anesthesia monitoring and recovery
  • Perform dental prophylaxis, charting, and dental radiographs
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians
  • Collect laboratory samples and perform in-house diagnostics
  • Monitor hospitalized patients and provide high-quality nursing care
  • Ensure adherence to hospital protocols, patient safety standards, and medical quality initiatives
  • Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
  • Support exceptional client communication and education
Operational Excellence
  • Partner with hospital leadership to improve workflow efficiency and patient care standards
  • Help maintain inventory, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance
  • Support implementation of hospital initiatives, training programs, and best practices
  • Assist in fostering a culture focused on patient care, client service, and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, LVMT, RVT)
  • Previous leadership, supervisory, mentoring, or training experience preferred
  • Strong clinical skills in anesthesia, dentistry, patient nursing, and diagnostics
  • Knowledge of low-stress feline handling techniques or willingness to learn Fear Free® and cat-friendly approaches
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead by example and inspire team engagement
  • Passion for providing exceptional patient care and supporting team development

Pay range is negotiable based on experience, leadership background, education, skills, and credentials.
