Position Details

Role: Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)

Status: Part-time

Compensation: $21 - $25 per hour (depending on experience)

Schedule: 3-day work week, rotating Saturdays (every 4th)

Fort Plain Animal Hospital in Fort Plain, NY is looking for a Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our high-quality, multi-doctor, full-service animal hospital. We’re dedicated to active learning and advanced medical procedures, and our Veterinary Technicians play an integral role in delivering excellent medical care to our patients and exceptional service to our clients.

What You’ll Do

• Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
• Provide skilled surgical assistance and support
• Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures
• Monitor and maintain anesthetized patients with close attention to patient safety
• Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples
• Perform laboratory procedures and assist with diagnostic testing
• Assist with radiology and diagnostic imaging
• Perform pharmacy duties and support accurate medication preparation and dispensing
• Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients
• Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
• Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely medical records
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients about patient care
• Provide excellent customer service throughout the client experience
• Collaborate with veterinarians and fellow support team members to maintain efficient hospital workflow
• Help maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked patient-care areas
• Contribute to a positive, professional, and supportive hospital environment

What You’ll Bring

• Current veterinary technician licensure appropriate for practice in New York
• Experience with surgical assistance and patient care
• Experience with venipuncture and laboratory procedures
• Experience with radiology and diagnostic imaging
• Experience monitoring and maintaining anesthetized patients
• Experience with pharmacy duties and medical records
• Strong technical and patient-monitoring skills
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• A caring and compassionate approach to patients and their families
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
• Ability to work effectively in a busy, team-oriented veterinary environment
