RVT/LVT/CVT Preferred | $23 - $29/hr. | Colorado Springs, CO

The purpose of this V eterinary Technician position is to ensure exceptional patient care while supporting the Internal Medicine and Oncology services through advanced technical, nursing, and administrative responsibilities. The Veterinary Technician performs comprehensive patient assessments, administers treatments, assists with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and provides compassionate care to patients throughout their treatment journey.

This role works closely with veterinarians, fellow technicians, and hospital staff to ensure the highest standard of medical care while delivering outstanding client communication and service. The Veterinary Technician also helps maintain a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment that promotes patient comfort and operational excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate nursing care, ensuring patients remain clean, comfortable, and stress-free.
  • Monitor hospitalized and outpatient patients, reporting changes in condition to the attending veterinarian.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and communicate patient updates to referral veterinarians.
  • Follow isolation and biosecurity protocols for contagious patients.
  • Safely restrain patients for examinations, treatments, and diagnostics.
  • Administer medications and chemotherapy while adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Assist with patient treatments, including IV catheter placement, venipuncture, urinary catheterization, oxygen therapy, and feeding tube placement.
  • Monitor anesthesia and assist with sedation for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Prepare for and assist with advanced Internal Medicine procedures, including endoscopy, CT imaging, and other diagnostics.
  • Perform in-house laboratory testing, prepare samples for outside laboratories, and process prescriptions and refills.
  • Admit and discharge patients, provide client education, and prepare financial estimates.
  • Maintain clean, organized treatment areas, stocked medical supplies, and hospital linens.
  • Walk, feed, clean, and monitor hospitalized patients as needed.
  • Support teammates and other departments while contributing to an efficient, collaborative work environment.
Additional Duties
  • Assist with inventory counts and supply management.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain medical equipment.
  • Assist with training and mentoring veterinary assistants and new team members.
  • Complete downtime projects, including organizing, cleaning, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Attend required staff meetings and continuing education opportunities.
  • Support both Internal Medicine and Oncology services as patient caseloads require.
Qualifications
  • RVT/LVT/CVT preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years veterinary experience with increasing responsibility.
  • Internal Medicine, Oncology, or specialty experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong technical skills including venipuncture, catheter placement, medication administration, and patient restraint.
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and critical patient care preferred.
  • Knowledge of fluid therapy, radiology safety, and basic emergency protocols.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions under pressure.
  • Fluent English speaking and reading skills required; multilingual candidates encouraged to apply.
