Job Description

VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists is adding an experienced Certified Veterinary Technician to our Advanced Imaging Team.

Location : 16756 SE 82nd Dr, Clackamas, OR 97015

Compensation : $ 31 - $ 38 / hr

Schedule : FT W-Sat or Thu-Sat

Provide direct patient care and advanced imaging support to veterinarians. This role focuses on anesthesia, diagnostic imaging (CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and radiology), patient monitoring, and maintaining a safe, efficient clinical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Monitoring
  • Deliver medical care according to treatment plans
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after imaging procedures
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including imaging and anesthesia documentation
  • Ensure proper patient identification (ID collar, cage card, documentation)
  • Imaging & Technical Support
  • Assist veterinarians with advanced imaging procedures, including CT and MRI
  • Support and assist with ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and radiology procedures
  • Safely prepare and position patients for imaging studies
  • Operate and maintain CT and MRI equipment following training and protocols
  • Continuously develop skills in imaging techniques, modalities, and safety practices
  • Ensure adherence to radiation safety and MRI safety standards
  • Anesthesia & Procedural Support
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia for imaging and diagnostic procedures
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records and patient monitoring logs
  • Assist with additional procedures such as radiology and laboratory diagnostics as needed
  • Maintain controlled substance logs in compliance with regulations
  • Operations & Workflow
  • Organize daily imaging schedules to support efficient workflow
  • Maintain accurate charges for procedures, medications, and services
  • Work independently when needed to ensure continuous patient care and timely imaging services
  • Client Communication
  • Educate clients on imaging procedures, anesthesia, and aftercare instructions
  • Communicate effectively with the veterinary team regarding patient status and imaging needs

Facility & Patient Maintenance

  • · Maintain a clean, safe imaging and treatment environment
  • · Ensure proper care of imaging equipment and supplies
  • · Provide patient hygiene care, including bathing, feeding, and bedding as needed

General Expectations

  • · Support hospital operations as needed
  • · Follow all safety, animal care, radiation safety, and MRI safety protocols
  • · Work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays

Physical Requirements

  • · Frequently stand, walk, bend, and restrain animals
  • · Ability to lift 40 lbs and assist with moving patients
  • · Perform tasks requiring reaching, kneeling, and crouching
  • · Work in a fast-paced clinical environment
