Compensation

  • Credentialed Technicians: $27 - $37/hr. based on experience
  • Non-Credentialed Technicians: $24 - $32/hr. based on experience

Job Description

The Anesthesia Technician provides exceptional patient care while supporting surgical procedures through anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, perioperative nursing care, and patient recovery. This role works closely with board-certified specialists and plays a critical role in ensuring patient safety throughout MRI, CT, surgical, and diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor anesthesia for surgical procedures throughout RBVH
  • Provide comprehensive patient care before, during, and after anesthesia and recovery.
  • Perform phlebotomy, sample collection, and peripheral IV catheter placement.
  • Administer IV fluid therapy and monitor patient response throughout procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, monitoring devices, surgical instruments
  • Monitor ECG, pulse oximetry, blood pressure, capnography, and other critical patient parameters.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records, including medications administered and patient monitoring data.
  • Assist with advanced surgical cases.
  • Calculate drug dosages, prepare CRIs, and administer anesthetic medications under veterinary supervision.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to anesthetic and medical emergencies.
  • Communicate effectively with doctors, technicians, and clients regarding patient care and status updates.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked treatment and surgical areas

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • LVT, CVT, or RVT credential preferred
  • Three or more years of experience working as a veterinary nursing team member.
  • One or more years of anesthesia experience required.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty hospital environment.
  • Strong understanding of anesthesia monitoring, pharmacology, and surgical procedures.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Experience in specialty, emergency, surgery, or neurology environments preferred.
  • Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) required.
