The Prince George’s County Department of The Environment is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Veterinary Technician, (Animal Care Attendant Supervisor) grade G16 position, in the Animal Services Division.
This is a supervisory level, professional position that plans, directs and oversees the Animal Services Division’s (ASD) Health Program that works directly with the veterinarian of record to maintain the health of animals under the care of ASD and prepare for and perform surgical procedures. This position ensures exceptional customer service is provided by its staff to our customers. This position is considered essential personnel in accordance with DoE Instruction 110.4.
The Department of the Environment works for a healthy, beautiful, and sustainable County through programs that provide clean water, flood control, recycling and waste management, litter prevention, sustainable animal management, and pet adoption in partnership with residents and other stakeholders.
Some of our core services include providing clean water services (Stormwater Management Division); flooding prevention for buildings and structures (Flood Management and Environmental Resilience Division and Stormwater Management Division); collecting, processing, and diverting waste from the County-operated landfill, commercial facilities, and households (Sustainable Waste Management Division); providing sustainability services to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (Flood Management and Environmental Resilience Division); and facilitating pet adoptions, managing an animal holding facility, issuing pet licenses, investigating cruelty complaints, and conducting humane outreach and education events (Animal Services Division).
An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered; however, there is no substitution for the required supervisory experience. All related training, certifications, and program experience established by the agency must be completed at the time of application.
