Role: Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant

Status: Full-time, 40 hours per week

Salary: Negotiable and based on experience

Schedule: Weekday shifts with rotating Saturdays required

Animal House Veterinary Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate team at our St. Charles location. What You’ll Do

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and medical procedures
• Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients
• Obtain patient histories and vital signs
• Prepare patients and exam rooms for appointments
• Assist with diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures
• Collect blood and other diagnostic samples as appropriate to your experience and training
• Assist with venipuncture and IV catheter placement as appropriate to your skills and role
• Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
• Prepare patients, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Assist with anesthesia monitoring and patient recovery as appropriate to your experience and training
• Provide attentive nursing care to hospitalized and outpatient patients
• Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records
• Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients
• Educate clients about medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and follow-up recommendations
• Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and hospital workspaces clean, organized, and well stocked
• Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, assistants, and other hospital team members
• Take ownership of assigned responsibilities and follow through on tasks
• Support teammates and help maintain an efficient hospital workflow
• Contribute to a positive experience for every patient and client

What You’ll Bring

• Previous veterinary technician or veterinary assistant experience is preferred
• Hands-on experience working in a veterinary hospital or clinical environment
• Strong animal handling and restraint skills
• A passion for pets and high-quality veterinary care
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassion and empathy for patients, clients, coworkers, and yourself
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to multitask and remain productive in a busy veterinary environment
• A positive, dependable, and supportive approach to teamwork
• Confidence taking ownership of tasks and responsibilities
