Valrico Animal Clinic is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Technician to join our team. This is a hands-on clinical role for a compassionate, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering outstanding care to both patients and clients.

As an important member of our medical team, you'll work closely with our veterinarians throughout appointments, diagnostics, treatments, surgery, dentistry, and recovery. We're looking for someone who can confidently use their technical skills while remaining calm, organized, and compassionate — even when the day gets busy.

What You'll Do

  • Safely and compassionately handle and restrain patients for examinations and procedures
  • Obtain complete patient histories and vital signs
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, diagnostics, treatments, and medical procedures
  • Prepare patients and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Provide anesthesia support before, during, and after surgical procedures
  • Monitor anesthetized patients and accurately document vital parameters
  • Provide attentive post-operative monitoring and recovery care
  • Perform venipuncture and collect diagnostic samples
  • Place IV catheters and administer fluid therapy as directed
  • Perform laboratory testing, including bloodwork, urinalysis, and cytology
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian
  • Position patients and obtain diagnostic radiographs
  • Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures
  • Educate clients about medications, treatments, preventive care, and post-operative needs
  • Provide clear discharge instructions and follow-up information
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely medical records
  • Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical spaces clean, organized, and fully stocked
  • Follow hospital safety and infection-control protocols
  • Assist with inventory management, restocking, and organization as needed
  • Support hospital operations and teammates wherever needed

What You'll Bring

  • At least two to three years of veterinary technician experience
  • CVT, LVT, or RVT credential preferred
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia monitoring and surgical support
  • Confidence with venipuncture and IV catheter placement
  • Proficiency with diagnostic radiography and patient positioning
  • Experience performing laboratory procedures and diagnostic testing
  • Experience with dental cleanings and dental procedures
  • Strong patient handling and restraint skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confidence educating clients about medications, treatments, and preventive care
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate medical documentation
  • The ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • The confidence to work efficiently and independently when appropriate
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach to veterinary medicine
  • Experience with digital radiography and laboratory equipment is preferred
  • Familiarity with veterinary practice management systems such as Cornerstone is a plus
  • Fear Free certification or an interest in low-stress handling techniques is a plus
  • Availability for occasional evening and Saturday shifts
