Who We Are

Greencross Vet Hospital is a proud and unique collaboration between Greencross Pet Wellness Company and the University of Melbourne, located within the University’s Werribee campus. We offer specialist and referral services in:

  • Surgery
  • Internal Medicine
  • Oncology
  • Neurology
  • Emergency & Critical Care
  • Anaesthesia
  • Dentistry
  • Cardiology

Our hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities including a 128-slice CT scanner, 3 Tesla MRI, advanced endoscopy, multiple ultrasound units, and an on-site pathology lab. We are committed to clinical excellence and to supporting veterinarians in their professional growth.

About the Internship

This 12-month Surgical Internship is part of the nationally recognised Greencross Intern Program, designed to support your transition into specialist surgical practice in a vibrant teaching hospital environment.

As a Surgical Intern, you will:

  • Assist in surgical consultations, diagnostics, and procedures
  • Participate in perioperative patient care and surgical rounds
  • Engage in journal clubs, case presentations, and hospital-wide multidisciplinary rounds
  • Collaborate with specialists across disciplines including Internal Medicine, ECC, Neurology, Oncology, Anaesthesia, and more
  • Receive structured mentoring and progressive clinical responsibility

  • Annual Greencross Veterinary Conference Attend workshops and lectures from leading veterinary professionals
  • Training in Related Disciplines (TRD) Engage with other specialties to broaden your clinical perspective

What We’re Looking For

You are a motivated, professional and enthusiastic veterinarian who:

  • Is eligible for veterinary registration in Victoria
  • Holds a current radiation licence
  • Has strong communication skills, a solid medical knowledge base, and a great work ethic
  • Has clinical experience (desirable but not essential)

Internship Details

  • Start date: 1st February 2027
  • Duration: 12 months
