Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon. Owner-Led practice, team focus.

Are you a confident vet looking for real job satisfaction working with a compassionate, welcoming team?

“I believe that when a team feels supported and valued, they do their best work—and that’s what our patients deserve.” Andrea Ionescubio, Practice Owner & Veterinary Surgeon

About us

Pontypridd Vets for Pets is a busy first-opinion small animal practice with a stable and supportive team. We aim to create an environment where vets enjoy their work and have the support needed to provide first class medicine to the clients and community in our care.

Our practice owner Andreea is a real advocate for her teams’ wellbeing, having opened the practice in 2016 and gone on to completing a Veterinary Leadership and Management Diploma focusing on developing teams and supporting mental health in the workplace, ensuring a culture and environment to be proud of.

Your working day

Our days are therefore well structured with an emphasis on your wellbeing and a good practice culture, as well as providing exceptional care to our clients. We do 15-minute consults as standard and you’ll have a friendly, supportive team of 2-3 nurses, VCA and receptionist on with you each day you work

The position available is flexible but ideally it will include 2 days a week, 9am-7pm Wednesday and Thursday with no out of hours or weekends.

We also work very closely with our sister practice in Llantrisant so not only do you have the full support of Andreea and the team in Pontypridd, there’s also additional support from our team there and the potential to work across both sites if desired.

About you

In joining our team(s) and supporting a great community and client base, we are looking for a solid all-rounder, a vet with GP and sole charge experience and a team player with great communication skills and someone who shares our passion for providing the highest level of veterinary care.

Pets just see people. They aren’t biased and they don’t discriminate. We take our inspiration from pets, and we value and respect difference in all its forms. Our aim is to reflect the diversity of the communities we operate in, and every colleague can help us achieve this. We encourage our people to be themselves so even if your skills and experience don’t perfectly align, if you think you can make a unique contribution through your values and behaviours, we want to hear from you!

About Pets at Home

Since 1991, when we were a wholesaler with a team of just 15, we’ve been focused on getting better every day. By putting pets before profit, working as a team and taking pride in everything we do, we’ve grown into a 451 store network with more than 8,913 colleagues working in our Stores, Grooming Salons, Distribution Centres and Support Office.

We are the UK’s leading pet specialist, providing pet owners with all their product needs, as well as our Vets for Pets practices and Grooming salons. We support our colleagues to work with pride and passion, to bring honesty and integrity to work every day, and to do it all with a sense of fun and fearlessness. We never shy away from having the important conversations and doing what we say we’ll do.

Our values and behaviours are practiced daily across the business and are what really makes us an enjoyable, exciting place to work. We're always striving to develop and reward our colleagues with an extensive in-house series of training programmes, wellbeing initiatives and a comprehensive benefits package. In 2018 we were delighted to be voted top 5 in the Great Place to Work UK’s Large category.

Our colleagues are central to the success of the business and are fully trained in pet care and dedicated to animal welfare. Pets are central to everything that we do and 93% of colleagues have their own pets too!
