Job Description

Veterinary Surgeon
Wimbledon Vets4Pets

Salary ranging from £45,000 to £65,000 dependant on experience.

We are a first opinion small animal practice based in the leafy suburb of Wimbledon and are looking for an enthusiastic and professional Veterinary Surgeon to join our team!

You will be joining our Joint Venture Partner Syd Azimi, as he grows and develops his team for the next stage in Wimbledon's journey. We have an animal behavioural specialist attend on a frequent basis and we see a wide variety of cases, including a higher-than-average number of rabbits and exotics. We take pride in working up cases to an extremely high standard. We have a bright, air-conditioned surgery which is purpose built to industry leading standards, with state-of-the-art equipment including digital X-ray and in-house laboratory facilities. We are supportive of individual interests so if you have a particular area of interest, this could be the practice for you!

Applicants will be experienced, confident with all routine surgical and medical cases and special interests will be welcomed and supported, with a generous CPD allowance of a minimum of £3k and certificates encouraged. Experience in emergency surgery as well as working with rabbits would be an advantage, but not essential.

This is a full-time role working Monday to Saturday (M-F 9am – 7pm & Sat 9am – 2pm), including time off in lieu. However, we can be flexible on working hours for the right candidate. There will be some sole charge responsibility but no OOHs ensuring a healthy work/life balance!

In return, we offer:

  • Excellent career opportunities and development due to the varied case load
  • Competitive salary £45,000 to £65,000 (depending on experience)
  • Relocation package
  • Annual leave of 20 days plus Bank Holidays, increasing to 25 days after 2 years
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Generous CPD of a minimum of £3,000 and funding of certificates for the right candidate
  • Paid memberships (RCVS, BVA, VDS)
  • Exclusive company discounts and rewards including 20% off at Pets at Home and The Vet Group and a cycle to work scheme.

Since 1991, when we were a wholesaler with a team of just 15, we’ve been focused on getting better every day. By putting pets before profit, working as a team and taking pride in everything we do, we’ve grown into a 451 store network with more than 8,913 colleagues working in our Stores, Grooming Salons, Distribution Centres and Support Office.

We are the UK’s leading pet specialist, providing pet owners with all their product needs, as well as our Vets for Pets practices and Grooming salons. We support our colleagues to work with pride and passion, to bring honesty and integrity to work every day, and to do it all with a sense of fun and fearlessness. We never shy away from having the important conversations and doing what we say we’ll do.

Our values and behaviours are practiced daily across the business and are what really makes us an enjoyable, exciting place to work. We're always striving to develop and reward our colleagues with an extensive in-house series of training programmes, wellbeing initiatives and a comprehensive benefits package.
