We have exciting plans to grow our modern, busy practice in the riverside town of Maidstone. If you’re a forward-thinking, experienced Vet looking for a role where you can bring your ideas to life, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Maidstone Vets for Pets is a standalone practice, offering the environment, caseload, and equipment needed to fully utilise your existing skills while also supporting your ongoing development. We actively encourage further learning, with support for postgraduate qualifications, CPD, and training in your areas of interest.
You’ll be joining a talented and friendly clinical team, alongside a highly supportive non-clinical team. Developing and retaining talent is a key focus for us, reflected in the number of colleagues who have been with us for 13–20 years, as well as our CCA team working towards BVRA accreditation. Within the clinical team, we also have a range of interests, with two of our vets already holding certificates in medicine and surgery. An interest in surgery or diagnostic imaging would be welcomed, but is not essential.
Our practice sees a wide variety of cases, including all routine surgery, soft tissue procedures, and some basic orthopaedics. We are well-equipped with modern facilities such as digital X-ray and ultrasound, and we are always open to investing in additional specialist equipment where it benefits the team and practice.
This is a part-time position, working 30 hours per week, inclusive of paid lunches and weekends, with a 1 in 3 weekend rota on a fair basis—though this can be discussed for the right candidate. There is minimal sole charge and no out-of-hours responsibility, supporting a strong work/life balance and providing plenty of opportunity to collaborate with colleagues.
In addition to a tailored career path and a salary of up to £50,000 pro rata (depending on experience), we offer a comprehensive benefits package. This includes excellent career progression opportunities and access to exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts, such as up to 20% off at Pets at Home. We also offer relocation support within or outside the UK, including visa sponsorship if required, as we are an A+ rated sponsor.
Yunus, Veterinary Surgeon, Maidstone Vets4Pets:
"After my interviews, I didn’t wait to talk to other practices and wanted to work here. My initial impression was that they genuinely cared for the patients and worked continuously to improve the practice. I am content with my decision to be a part of this team and have been here for 1.5 years now. This practice has its own identity, and it’s kept so – which consists of compassion, hard work and an understanding of colleagues’ mental wellbeing while supporting their professional interests. Of course, every workplace has limitations and being in the veterinary profession is not always the easiest. But I can fairly say that someone will always have your back and support you if you are open to it, especially if you love animals like we do."
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (3+ years qualified) to play a key role in building and shaping our practice, with the support and guidance of a well-established industry network.
You will be confident managing routine surgical and medical cases, but just as importantly, you’ll be a personable and approachable vet who enjoys building strong relationships with our patients, clients, and the wider team.
Maidstone is ideally located, offering easy access to beautiful surrounding countryside and beaches, while also being within convenient reach of Gatwick and Heathrow airports, as well as the Eurostar. We also provide free on-site parking for added convenience.

Since 1991, when we were a wholesaler with a team of just 15, we’ve been focused on getting better every day. By putting pets before profit, working as a team and taking pride in everything we do, we’ve grown into a 451 store network with more than 8,913 colleagues working in our Stores, Grooming Salons, Distribution Centres and Support Office.
We are the UK’s leading pet specialist, providing pet owners with all their product needs, as well as our Vets for Pets practices and Grooming salons. We support our colleagues to work with pride and passion, to bring honesty and integrity to work every day, and to do it all with a sense of fun and fearlessness. We never shy away from having the important conversations and doing what we say we’ll do.
Our values and behaviours are practiced daily across the business and are what really makes us an enjoyable, exciting place to work. We're always striving to develop and reward our colleagues with an extensive in-house series of training programmes, wellbeing initiatives and a comprehensive benefits package. In 2018 we were delighted to be voted top 5 in the Great Place to Work UK’s Large category.
Our colleagues are central to the success of the business and are fully trained in pet care and dedicated to animal welfare. Pets are central to everything that we do and 93% of colleagues have their own pets too!
