We have an exciting opportunity for an experiencedVeterinary Surgeonwith asurgicalbiasto join our friendly and experienced team atMedivetDorchester 24 Hour, a recently refurbished, multi-disciplinary hospitallocatedjust a short drive from the stunning Jurassic Coast.
Dorchester 24 Hour has a strong regional presence, providing out-of-hours care for fiveMedivetbranches and seven non-Medivetpracticeswhich gives scope for a wide range of clinical cases You will be working within a highly skilled and supportive team, which includes certificate holders incardiology,diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, dermatology, and emergency and critical care,as well asthose who are currently studying towardsdentalqualifications. This creates an excellent environment for professional development, collaboration, and learning, and providingall round care for our patients, from first opinion work to more advanced and challenging cases.
Our hospital is fully equipped to deliver exceptional patient care, with facilities including:
CT scanner (supporting internal and outpatient referrals)
Laparscopicsurgery
Digital x-ray and ultrasound
Dental X-ray
Endoscopy
Two sterile surgical suites
Dedicated in-house laboratory
Hydrotherapy unit (staffed two days per week)
Peripatetic physiotherapist
Isolation facilities
Separate dog and cat wards, with ISFM Silver Cat Friendly status
24/7 care supported by an ECC-certified night vet andexperiencednursing team
This is an excellent opportunity for a veterinary surgeon witha strong surgical interest, preferably a certificate holder or someone working towards a certificate in surgery, who wants todevelops a caseloadinbothorthopaedics and soft tissue surgery. Although the role will primarily be surgical in nature, weremaincommitted to providing excellent first opinion client care and therefore will also involve some routine consultations and inpatient care
Weare looking fora minimum of 4 years proven UK experience to thrive inthisbusy, forward-thinking hospital environment while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of the Dorset coast.As primarily a first opinionpracticethe successfulcandidatemust alsobe able to provide excellentclient care bothin the consult room and in managing medical and surgical cases, but witha strong teamto lean on canfeel supported with more complex and challenging surgical cases.
This role is either part-time or full-time depending on the candidate, but a full-time role would workanaverageof39 hours per week with 1 in 6 weekendsincluded within this rota. We believe in fairness across theteam,so weekends are a core feature of this role.
The full-time salary starts from £85,000, dependant on experience and further qualifications.
