Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum FTE (D.O.E)

Practice: Garston Veterinary Group

Location: Somerset and Wiltshire

Job Type: Full-time and part-time applicants welcomed.

Why join us?

  • Join a thriving primary care practice with a strong team of 24 vets, including Certificate holders in Medicine, Surgery, Cardiology and Feline Medicine with further vets currently studying, and a visiting Ophthalmology Diplomate.
  • Out-of-hours patient care is handled at our dedicated 24-hour small animal hospital in Frome. The hospital is staffed continuously by our experienced night nurse team, ensuring high-quality care. You’ll also contribute to our out-of-hours veterinary rota on a pro-rata basis.
  • We offer excellent facilities across our surgeries, including well-equipped consulting rooms, modern operating theatres with laparoscopic neutering capabilities, dedicated isolation units, and an onsite laboratory. Diagnostic imaging is supported by ultrasound, digital x-ray, and dental x-ray services, with full dental staging available, plus a nurse-led laser therapy service. All sites are ISFM-accredited cat friendly clinics, providing designated feline appointments. Our small animal hospital in Frome also houses a brand-new CT scanner, enhancing our advanced diagnostic capabilities
  • Based on the beautiful Somerset and Wiltshire border within easy reach of the vibrant and historic cities of Bath, the Cotswold's, Bristol, and Salisbury with direct train routes to London and the beautiful south coast an hour’s drive away.
  • We are one of the few practices in Somerset & Wiltshire that operate our own out of hours emergency service on-site at our accredited small animal hospital at Garston House in Frome.
  • We work closely with surrounding specialist referral sites in our network including Eastcott, Cave, & Anderson Moores.

The Team

Our large team has decades of experience with three Lead Vets supporting our clinicians, and Clinical Directors overseeing the running of the practices. Interests within the team include orthopaedics, ECC, exotics, cardiology, dentistry, internal medicine, ultrasound imaging & laparoscopic surgery.

We are a sociable team and enjoy nothing more than a party, for example celebrating someone’s birthday which of course, includes cake!

We have our own 'Garston green team' who have recently achieved the IIE Green accreditation, the highest possible levels of environmental sustainability without compromising patient care and treatment.

What we are looking for

  • Ideally, you will be confident with routine consults, surgeries and working within a team but don’t worry if there are areas you are not fully confident, we have a wonderful team of experienced vets and nurses to support any level.
  • Excellent communication skills and a desire to progress within your role.
  • Completion of your VetGDP and RCVS registered.
