Looking for a Veterinary Receptionist Role Where Helping People and Pets Is at the Heart of What You Do?

If you love animals and people, can keep your cool when the phones are ringing, appointments are arriving, and someone needs help right now, you may be exactly who we're looking for!

South Bend Animal Clinic is looking for a Veterinary Receptionist to join our team in South Bend, Indiana. Our receptionists are much more than the people answering the phones—they're the first friendly face our clients see, the connection between our clients and medical team, and an essential part of keeping our hospital running smoothly.

We're looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, organized, and genuinely enjoys helping people and their pets. Previous veterinary experience is a plus, but we're also happy to consider someone with excellent customer service experience, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.

Why Our Veterinary Receptionists Love It Here

  • A supportive team that genuinely helps one another
  • A workplace where your ideas and contributions are valued
  • A part-time schedule of approximately four days per week
  • Shifts typically scheduled from 12:00–6:00 PM or 2:00–6:00 PM
  • Opportunities to learn more about veterinary medicine every day
  • Professional development and continued learning opportunities
  • A team that understands veterinary medicine can be challenging and believes laughter and kindness matter
  • Meaningful work helping pets and the people who love them
  • A workplace built around teamwork, compassion, and mutual respect
  • And yes, being surrounded by adorable patients all day is a pretty great bonus

What Our Veterinary Receptionists Do

  • Greet clients and patients with warmth, compassion, and professionalism
  • Answer phones, respond to voicemails, and communicate clearly with clients
  • Schedule appointments and help manage an active veterinary calendar
  • Check patients in and out while maintaining accurate client and patient information
  • Collect payments and process invoices accurately
  • Communicate estimates, pricing, hospital policies, and next steps clearly
  • Coordinate with doctors and the medical team to keep patient and client flow running smoothly
  • Make outbound calls, texts, or emails for reminders, follow-ups, and patient care needs
  • Maintain accurate client and patient records
  • Help keep the reception area clean, organized, and welcoming
  • Jump in wherever needed to help the team keep the day running smoothly

What You'll Bring

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Confidence handling a busy front desk and competing priorities
  • Compassion and professionalism, especially during difficult or emotional situations
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and adjust when priorities change
  • A positive, dependable, team-first attitude
  • Comfort asking questions and a willingness to learn
  • Good judgment and the ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Previous veterinary or medical reception experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with veterinary terminology or practice management software is a bonus
  • A genuine passion for helping people and their pets

The Extras You'll Actually Feel

At South Bend Animal Clinic, we know veterinary reception can be incredibly rewarding, but we also know it takes patience, empathy, organization, and the ability to communicate professionally when situations become stressful.

You don't need to know everything on day one. We'd much rather find someone who is kind, dependable, willing to learn, comfortable asking questions, and ready to become part of the team.

You'll work alongside people who understand that the front desk plays an essential role in both client service and patient care. If you can make a nervous pet owner feel heard while helping the rest of the hospital stay on track, you may have just found your next veterinary home.
