Job Description

Veterinary Receptionist

Department: Receptionists

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Knoxville, Tennessee

Compensation: $17.00 - $19.00 / hour

Animal Emergency & Specialty Center – Knoxville is seeking two Full-Time Veterinary Receptionists to join our 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital.
We are hiring for:
1️⃣ Day Shift Receptionist
Ideal schedule: 6:00am–4:00pm or 7:00am–5:00pm
1️⃣ Evening/Swing Shift Receptionist

Ideal schedule: 4:00pm–2:00am or 5:00pm–3:00am

AESC Knoxville is a 24/7 Emergency & Specialty Veterinary Hospital providing advanced medical, surgical, and critical care services. Our reception team plays a crucial role in supporting clients during high-stress and emotional situations.

As a Veterinary Receptionist in an emergency hospital, you are the first point of contact for pet owners experiencing urgent and often emotional situations. Your ability to communicate clearly, multitask efficiently, and provide steady support directly impacts patient care and client trust.

  • Support clients through stressful and time-sensitive situations
  • Relay accurate information between doctors, technicians, and pet owners

Administrative & Financial Duties

  • Maintain detailed and confidential medical records
  • Assist with scheduling specialty rechecks and follow-up appointments

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with ER doctors, specialty teams, and technicians
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional reception area
  • Support overall hospital efficiency during peak caseload times

  • Comfortable working evenings, rotating weekends, and holidays
  • Dependable and adaptable with strong attention to detail

Preferred Experience

  • Veterinary emergency or specialty hospital experience
  • Familiarity with veterinary practice management software
  • Experience handling difficult or emotional client interactions
