We’re looking for an experienced veterinary practice manager who enjoys leading people, supporting clients, and helping a busy veterinary hospital thrive.

Job Description

What You’ll Do

As the veterinary practice manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the hospital while partnering closely with the doctors and veterinary team. Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead, coach, and develop the veterinary and client service teams through training, performance feedback, scheduling, and ongoing support.
• Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard team members who align with the hospital’s culture and veterinary care standards.
• Create staff schedules and ensure appropriate coverage based on hospital and patient needs.
• Maintain strong employee-management communication and help resolve team concerns fairly and professionally.
• Provide excellent client service by addressing questions, concerns, policies, appointment availability, and treatment costs.
• Oversee inventory, equipment, controlled substances, purchasing, vendor relationships, and pricing to help the veterinary hospital operate efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, including DEA/controlled substance and OSHA requirements.
• Monitor payroll for accuracy and timely submission.
• Support accurate patient records and ensure veterinary terminology, treatment instructions, and practitioner orders are documented appropriately.
• Promptly communicate emergency cases and other important patient needs to the appropriate veterinary staff.
• Represent and promote the hospital within the local community and veterinary industry.
• Partner with the veterinary regional manager on staffing, personnel, and operational needs.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

The ideal veterinary practice manager is compassionate, organized, calm under pressure, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a busy veterinary environment. You’ll need strong communication, leadership, and customer service skills, along with the ability to make thoughtful and fair decisions when managing people.

• Practice management experience or certification preferred, with at least 1 year of management experience, or 3+ years of veterinary leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of veterinary medicine terminology and veterinary hospital operations.
• Previous experience leading, training, and developing a team.
• Highly organized with strong computer and administrative skills.
• Excellent communication and client service skills.
• Self-motivated with a desire to continue growing your veterinary knowledge and leadership skills.
• Flexible and willing to adjust hours based on hospital needs.
• A genuine passion for veterinary medicine and creating a positive experience for pets, clients, and team members.
