Veterinary Pharmacy Technician

As a Veterinary Pharmacy Technician, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the highest level of patient care through accurate and efficient pharmacy operations. This position requires strong attention to detail, computer proficiency, and the ability to remain composed in a fast-paced setting. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of emergency and critical care, along with excellent communication and multitasking skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Process prescription requests via email, voicemail, and fax
• Communicate with clients regarding prescriptions, instructions, and refills
• Collaborate with veterinary staff on prescription needs
• Review doctor’s notes for prescription directives
• Understand medication classifications and potential side effects
• Accurately fill prescriptions in our in-house pharmacy
• Place and process prescription orders with external pharmacies
• Organize and maintain pharmacy inventory

Job Requirements

• Veterinary Technician with a minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a veterinary practice
• High school diploma or GED
• Proficiency in computer systems and electronic medical records
• Evening, weekend, and rotating holiday shifts
• Part-time or full-time schedule available

OSVSis located in East Greenwich, RI with a satellite facility in Swansea, MA. OSVS is a 35,000-sf building with a very busy emergency service, a nationally-respected internship and residency program, and specialists in Emergency/Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Radiology, Cardiology, Neurology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, and Avian/Exotics. Specialized equipment includes telemetry, endoscopy, CT scanner, ultrasound, and MRI.
