All Pets Veterinary Hospital is launching a brand new out-of-hours and emergency care service - an exciting step for an already highly respected hospital. This is your chance to be part of that journey from day one, helping shape how ECC is delivered in a setting that prioritises both clinical standards and team support.
You’ll be joining a dedicated night team, working in a structured, well-supported environment where emergency care is done properly, with the right people and resources in place.
The rota has been carefully structured to give you genuine time to switch off and recharge.
You’ll work a 7 nights on, 14 nights off pattern, with shifts running from 6/7pm until the 8/9am in the morning depending on the day. In your second week, there is a light back-up on-call requirement to help cover unexpected absence, with time off in lieu returned in your next working rotation.
Overall, the role averages under 32 hours per week, offering a level of balance that’s hard to find in ECC - without compromising on salary or clinical exposure.
Based in Drogheda, you’ll work in a busy, well-equipped hospital with access to digital and dental radiography, ultrasound, in-house lab facilities, surgical theatres, and dedicated inpatient wards.
Your nights will be varied and engaging - supporting with triage, inpatient monitoring, emergency procedures, and delivering high standards of patient care. It’s an ideal opportunity to build confidence and deepen your ECC nursing skills in a setting where you’ll be actively involved.
You’ll be part of a large, experienced team of vets and nurses, many with additional qualifications across a range of disciplines including ECC, surgery, and medicine.
The culture is collaborative and supportive, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and open communication. Even on nights, you’ll feel part of a wider team that values your contribution and supports your development.
This position would suit a confident, experienced Veterinary Nurse who enjoys the pace and variety of emergency work.
You’ll need to be VCI registered, and comfortable working independently overnight. While ECC experience is beneficial, a strong interest in this area and a proactive approach to learning are just as important. This role isn’t suited to newly qualified nurses who require close supervision.
We recognise that our people are fundamental to the success of our business. Investing in our staff, premises and processes is at the heart of what we do. In addition to a competitive salary, you will also benefit from:

*Full access to EAP and Wellbeing Centre
