Job Description

Urgent Care Veterinary Nurse - Greencross Vets GP + Urgent Care Noosa

Permanent Full-Time or Part-Time | Noosaville, Sunshine Coast

Are you an experienced veterinary nurse who loves variety, enjoys thinking on your feet and wants to be part of a team that is building something exciting?

Greencross Vets GP + Urgent Care Noosa is looking for an Urgent Care Veterinary Nurse to join our team.

Our Urgent Care service provides same-day veterinary care for pets who can't necessarily wait until their regular GP is open, while helping to bridge the gap between General Practice and emergency hospitals. We see a diverse range of cases including vomiting and diarrhoea, wounds and lacerations, skin and ear conditions, eye concerns, lameness, general unwellness and other urgent presentations.

We are a purpose-built hospital with access to in-house diagnostics including bloods, blood gas, coags, radiography, ultrasound, urinalysis and endoscopy, so there is plenty of opportunity to build your clinical skills and see something different every shift.

What you'll be doing

As an Urgent Care Nurse, you'll play an important role in keeping our patients safe, supporting our veterinarians and making sure our clients feel looked after.

Your role will include:

  • Triaging and assessing urgent presentations
  • Assisting with stabilisation and treatment of urgent patients
  • Monitoring patients and vital signs
  • Administering medications and treatments under veterinary direction
  • Assisting veterinarians with procedures and diagnostics
  • Performing nursing procedures and minor procedures within your scope of practice
  • Collecting and processing diagnostic samples
  • Supporting patients through their hospital stay and ensuring their comfort and welfare
  • Communicating confidently and compassionately with clients
  • Managing client enquiries in person and over the phone
  • Thinking ahead and showing initiative rather than waiting to be asked
  • Helping maintain a clean, organised and efficient hospital

Enjoy a work-life balance with our roster!

One of the great things about our model is the variety and no overnights!

Urgent Care shifts:

Monday–Friday: 1:00 pm–11:00 pm or 5:00 pm–11:00 pm

Saturday & Sunday: 8:00 am–6:00 pm

There is also the opportunity to work across our General Practice team, giving you variety in your week and exposure to a broad range of patients and cases.

About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing or Veterinary Technologist degree
  • Has at least 2 years' clinical veterinary nursing experience
  • Has strong veterinary nursing knowledge and practical skills
  • Has experience in emergency, critical care or urgent care nursing
  • Is confident with triage and assessing patients
  • Can remain calm and organised when things get busy
  • Has excellent communication and client service skills
  • Shows initiative and naturally looks for ways to support the team
  • Is genuinely passionate about patient care and the veterinary nursing profession

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is kind, capable and a great team player.

Why Greencross?

This is your chance to grow your nursing career in a role and hospital built to support you, and your patients. When you join us, you’ll benefit from:

  • Strong leadership support at clinic, regional, and national levels
  • Access to CPD and development opportunities, including LinkedIn Learning, VetWebinars, and our annual Clinical Conference (held in Brisbane this year!)
  • Career growth across a large national veterinary network
  • Fantastic team member benefits, including:
  • Fitness Passport
  • 50% off Royal Canin food
  • 25% off Petbarn products
  • Pounce perks - hundreds of discounts across leading brands and everyday essentials
  • A workplace culture built on respect, teamwork, and support
  • Access to a free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to support your mental health

Come and grow with us

This is an opportunity to join a team that is continuing to build and evolve. You'll have the chance to work with interesting cases, develop your clinical skills, work alongside experienced veterinarians and help shape the future of Urgent Care at Noosa.

If you're looking for a role where no two shifts are quite the same, your nursing skills are genuinely valued, and you can make a difference to both patients and their people, we'd love to hear from you.
