Job Description

Greencross Preston | VIC

Looking for a casual nursing role where you can jump in, be hands-on, and feel genuinely part of the team?

At Greencross Preston, we’re big on teamwork, collaboration, and keeping things real. We work closely together, support each other, and aren’t afraid to roll up our sleeves, whether that’s cuddling patients, helping a teammate, or getting stuck into a busy day.

About us

We’re a close-knit, driven team who care deeply about what we do, for our patients, our clients, and each other.

  • Down-to-earth, supportive culture
  • Strong focus on high-quality care
  • A team that genuinely works together (no silos here)

Our clinic is well-equipped with:

  • Digital x-ray and ultrasound
  • In-house pathology
  • Modern surgical and dental equipment
  • 3 consult rooms, sterile theatre, imaging room
  • Separate dog and cat wards

Why Preston?

Preston is one of those locations that just makes life easy:

  • Quick access to the CBD
  • Great public transport connections
  • Westfield and plenty of cafés just minutes away

Everything you need, right on your doorstep.

What makes this clinic special

This is a place where teamwork actually means something.

Complex cases are tackled together, not just by vets, but across the whole clinic. Whether it’s managing chronic conditions or supporting tricky cases, everyone has a voice and contributes.

You’ll also get exposure to something a bit different, exotics. From rabbits and guinea pigs to birds and small mammals, it’s a great opportunity to build skills beyond standard GP work.

And when it comes to client care? The team goes all in. From emergency support through to follow-up calls that genuinely make a difference, it’s the kind of care that keeps clients coming back.

The role (Casual)

This is a flexible, casual position helping to support the team across:

  • Annual leave
  • Personal leave
  • General clinic demand

You’ll be doing a bit of everything:

  • Assisting in consults and surgery
  • Monitoring anaesthetics and patient recovery
  • Supporting medical and nursing care
  • Client communication and support
  • Helping keep the clinic running smoothly day-to-day

About you

You’ll fit in well here if you’re:

  • Certificate IV qualified with 2+ years’ experience
  • Confident, capable, and happy to jump in where needed
  • Calm, organised, and able to multitask
  • Great with both animals and people
  • Reliable, accountable, and a true team player
  • Someone who enjoys contributing and being part of the bigger picture

Most importantly, you enjoy coming to work and being part of a good team.

Why Greencross?

Alongside a great local team, you’ll have access to wider Greencross benefits:

  • Ongoing CPD and development opportunities
  • Mental health and wellbeing support (LifeWorks)
  • Fitness Passport
  • Generous staff discounts (Petbarn, Royal Canin, Puppy Preschool, Groceries, Fuel, Retail & more)
  • Career pathways across the network if you’re looking for more down the track

Why this role works

  • Flexible casual hours that fit around you
  • A supportive, team-first clinic culture
  • Exposure to interesting cases (including exotics)
  • A workplace where your contribution genuinely matters

If you’re looking for a casual role where you can step in, feel welcomed, and do great nursing work with a team that has your back, we’d love to hear from you.
