Veterinary Medical Director - Albuquerque, NM

A well-established small animal veterinary practice is seeking a Medical Director Veterinarian to provide exceptional patient care while supporting clinical leadership, team development, and the continued growth of the practice. Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive medical and surgical care for small animal patients.
  • Perform wellness and preventive care examinations, diagnostics, dentistry, and soft tissue procedures.
  • Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Serve as a clinical leader and resource for the veterinary team.
  • Mentor and support veterinarians and veterinary support staff.
  • Promote consistent standards of patient care, medical quality, and client service.
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients through clear communication and education.
  • Support efficient clinical workflows and appropriate use of hospital resources.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and professional development as needed.
  • Encourage a positive, collaborative workplace culture.
  • Maintain appropriate medical, regulatory, and controlled-substance standards.
  • Participate in continued education and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active veterinary license or eligibility for licensure.
  • Previous veterinary leadership or mentorship experience.
  • Strong clinical and surgical skills.
  • Excellent communication and client-education abilities.
  • Compassionate, client-centered approach to patient care.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with veterinarians and support staff.
  • Commitment to high-quality medicine and continuous professional growth.
  • Willingness and ability to serve as the practice's DEA license holder.
