Job Description

On the southern Gold Coast, just minutes from the sand, local cafes and that Palm Beach village feel, our clinic is busy, well-regarded, and known for consistently high clinical standards. We have a stable team of vets and nurses who care deeply about doing things properly, and we’re ready for a Veterinary Director who can set the clinical tone, coach with clarity, and keep the day running with calm purpose.

Take a quick walk through Palm Beach clinic and meet the space you’ll be leading.

We are looking for a Veterinary Director who wants to lead with clarity, coach with purpose and help shape a clinic culture that feels steady, capable and rewarding to be part of every day.

What makes Palm Beach different

This is a clinic where high standards are part of the everyday. We care deeply about doing things well, supporting one another and creating an environment where good medicine can thrive.

What sets us apart is the combination of a busy, varied caseload and a settled, collaborative team who enjoy working together. We value evidence-based medicine, strong communication and leadership that is present on the floor, not removed from it.

Our purpose-built clinic is thoughtfully designed and equipped to support excellent care across consults, diagnostics and surgery, including:

  • Ultrasound and digital X-ray
  • IM3 dental unit and dental X-ray
  • In-house laboratory
  • Sterile theatre

The opportunity

As Veterinary Director, your impact will be felt in both the clinical standards we uphold and the way our team connects, communicates and grows together.

This is a leadership role with real influence. You will help shape the tone of the clinic, strengthen capability across the team and create the kind of day-to-day environment where people feel supported to do their best work.

In this role, you will:

  • champion evidence-based care and keep clinical standards high
  • mentor vets and nurses through feedback, case discussions and development planning
  • bring clarity to workflow, communication and expectations
  • help shape a diary that supports both quality medicine and a sustainable pace
  • build strong client relationships within the Palm Beach community
  • guide a culture of accountability, kindness and continuous improvement

Who will thrive here

You will likely feel at home with us if you are someone who brings calm, structure and follow-through to leadership.

You enjoy mentoring others and lifting confidence across a team. You are thoughtful in a busy environment, clear in your communication and proud of both your medicine and your ability to help others grow. You value high standards, kind accountability and being part of a team that wants to keep getting better together.

The one reality

Palm Beach is a busy clinic with a strong pace. This role will suit someone who can stay organised, present and consistent through the natural flow of cases, decisions and team dynamics across the day.

What we back you with

We want this role to feel exciting, supported and sustainable, and we invest accordingly.

Alongside a senior leadership opportunity with real scope, we offer:

  • A $15,000 set-up allowance to help you settle into the role
  • Superannuation of 12.0% on top of base salary
  • Four weeks of annual leave, plus option to convert your continuing education leave to annual leave, which will be five weeks altogether.
  • In Australia, unused annual leave rolls over into the next year!!
  • 11.5 days of public holidays in Queensland
  • Paid Parental Leave is 6 weeks full pay (or 12 weeks half pay), with flexible return-to-work programs
  • Lincoln Institute’s Leading Edge for Veterinarians program, a 12-month online leadership course valued at $9,000 and fully funded by us. It is CPD-accredited and covers communication, time management, resilience, leadership and more.
  • An industry-leading internal CE program, including all-inclusive attendance at Australia’s largest annual veterinary clinical conference
  • Scholarship options for Membership examinations
  • Paid AVA membership or annual veterinary registration
  • ‘Welcome to Australia’ module to support international vets transitioning to practice in Australia
  • Discounts across Greencross Vets, the Animal Referral and Emergency Network and Petbarn nationwide

What you’ll need

  • BVSc or DVM (or equivalent) and eligibility for registration in Queensland
  • At least 5+ years of experience, ideally with previous leadership exposure. Emerging leaders are encouraged to apply
  • Strong communication, teamwork and clinical capability
